Rep Power: 0 | i just started tanning today at a indoor tanning salon for the first time...and about 3 hrs later my skin started itching and burning...i'm assuming it might be sunburn or could it be something else? i'm very light skinned brown hair w/ brown eyes...i don't rarely tan that much and i didn't use any lotion when i was tanning..the guy that worked there told me that usually first timers go in for about 13 min but i dont' think i stayed in there for 13 min..could i have sunburn or is it a heat rash....it itches like crazy now...and i have huge red stripes down my back where i guess the lamps are....can someone tell me if this is normal? and if it is sunburn how long should i wait till i go back for another session? |

Rep Power: 107 | My first thought is that you were definitely allowed an exposure time that was too much. The "guy" must be a bit of an ?diot. By now, I will assume that you have developed a burn? Patronize a salon that gives you a skin analysis, basis initial exposure times based on the those reults and the recommendations of the bed and/or lamp manufacturers. Let the redness clear up and find a better salon. Good luck. |

Rep Power: 0 | I totally agree about too much time. When I first go back after some time away I usually start out with 5 minutes and work up to fifteen over a weeks time. Usually I go for 5 minutes, then seven, then eight for a couple days, then 12, 12 and 15. After 15 for a few days I am ready for 20. Take care, |

Rep Power: 107 | Maybe you are as dark as you are going to get. If you have reached your natural tanning plateau, a good tingle lotion should get you past it. Sometimes we don't realize how dark we actually are, especially if you have no tanlines as a reference. If you have been using a tingle for some time you may have developed a resistance and may need to go back to a less potent lotion for awhile. As for the first part of your post see this: www.tanningtruth.com |

Rep Power: 0 | I have used both tingle and non-tingle, I am always ready and excited to try new lotions. I like tingles more in the winter but I seriously do not see more of a difference. I have used DS Siren, Bombshell, and now JA Platinum. I do like the microcirculation but when the red goes away I really do not feel as if I am getting more. One of the main reasons I use tingle is for the more "natural" color and the fact that it is supossed to break plateaus...not convinced any suggestions? |
