i've always had problems getting color on my chest and back, so i tried using tingle lotion (i had a base tan) and at first i thought it worked well but a few hours later i noticed that i still had no color and now my chest was all broken out! i have a wedding on saturday and i don't know what to do. the girl at the tanning place said just not to use lotion and it will clear up but i'm nervous that it won't. esp since i went today and nothing happened with my chest. can anyone help me out? thanks so much!

Oh Tay ~ I'll bite....

Want to let us know if you are male or female?

Either sex - can you let us know if you are 'furry'??? on both chest and back.

Also - what type of equipment are you tanning in? Lay Down, Stand Up, and what type of SALON /Gym /Home Unit???

'Broken out from lotion'--- please be more specific - - are we talking hives or zits or just tiny red bumps....

Finally ~ is it YOUR wedding on Saturday or are you just a guest......

S

it's not my wedding on saturday but i'm in the wedding party.

i used a stand up hd-60 with a tingle lotion. at first i was beet red, for a few hours, but by the evening i had white heads all over my chest. and i didn't appear to have any additional color. i went today and used the 54 stand up booth, no lotion just in case, and my sister says i don't look like i went tanning at all and the white heads are still there. i just don't understand why it's happened because usually i get a nice tan and my skin is clear.

oh and i'm a female, so no fur on me.

thanks

Have you been tanning on a regular basis or was this after a couple of initial sessions after not tanning for a while?

Good point Neon.... For the month of September how many tanning sessions have you done?

Did your salon explain that 'Tingle' lotions are a stimulant that will redden your skin for a certain amount of time? ....

Are you taking any medications (particulary the Depo shot???) or any new B/C in the last 3 months???

And finally - once we can see what level your base tan really is - it will be easier to get a grip on what needs to be done... I would hate to suggest a bronzer lotion if you are too 'white' for it.....

If you really have white heads - - - shower with an antibacterial soap like Lever 2000 and use a Shower Scrungee Puuuuuffy thing... gentle, circular motion .... Towel off gently and do not put ANY Lotion on that has wax, mineral oil, lanolin in it..... That crap clogs the pores!

Sorry for all the ????'s .... but without the answers ~ it's hard to give you any good advice to get er done by Saturday.

Sounds more like some sort of burn or allergic reaction. There is a Vitamin E alergy thread going on and this may be the case here. Tingle is Vitamin E (derived). Also, could be a number of different ing that would cause a break out. Heat rash, is also possible.

Also, if you went in my stand up twice you'd have some color.

okay so i'll try to answer all of the questions.

i've been going tanning about twice a week for the month of september, sometimes more.

i know that tingle lotion makes you red but it fades within a few hours and then i don't look like i've gone tanning at all. i went again and didn't use any lotion and i have a little bit of color, but not much. is it possible to build up a resistance? i've also used the brazilian hemp before, it was okay. should i try something else?

i'm going to try to upload a recent picture. i'm the second from the left and that's me with a base tan, which is just about what i look like now.

Hmmmmmm. Starting off with a tingle lotion may not have been the right thing to do and theat may have caused your sking to react. As far as not getting colour, you may not have been tanning enough. That is, with me, I recommend our clients come in three days in a row, skip a day, and then 3 more and the skip two days as long as they are not getting any redness or itchiness. Or, every second day. You may not be seeing the results if you are only tanning every 3rd day to build as base, or you need a new salon with "new" lamps.

Kay ~ times a wasting and I guess I am too needy for specifics ....

#1 I would suggest getting into a LAYDOWN 100watt low pressure bed usually 24-26-28- or 30 lampers

#2 I would suggest You GO today... and do 15 Mins using a none tingle product (I would go with Swedish Beauty Chocolate Indulgence or Matahari Dark Sexy Tan)

#3 Do this same thing 24 hours after the session (increasing the exposure time by 2 mins only if there is no pink or tenderness)

#4 Remember to apply your lotion in small circular motion.... do not let any of the lotion stay between your fingers and use a wet-wipe to clean your palms prior to the tanning session..... see if you can get your back lotion applied at home so you get even coverage

** thoughts on 'lack of ability' to tan ... you said you ALWAYS have this problem...

Have you ever had a SEVERE Burn to the chest and back??? This could have damaged the skin to a layer that your Melanocytes are no longer able to function properly.... AND if this is the case (confirm with your doctor) ~ you should not be tanning or trying to FORCE the color - - - you should be using sunscreen and only using Sunless applications for your cosmetic color....

If you NEED to tan for the Mind, Body and Soul aspect - - you should not expose this area to the lights if the damage i mentioned above is confirmed as the problem....

Last thought process - - - it is bad karma for the skin to be subjected to Kick Your *** Hot stimulants before it has reached a high level of tan.....
