Hello,

As you can obviously see I’m new to the boards. I recently started tanning and as the subject mentions and am a fair-skinned individual. Seeing as I really don’t want to refinance the house and start working another job to achieve a golden brown tan, my budget will be limited. My father is of Mexican descent and my mother has red hair, light freckled skin, and burns easily. I’m the result of this conflicting combination of genes. I don’t tan easily but rather burn without the proper sun block on. I just got back from the tanning salon after spending 7 minutes in a standup unit with Fiji’s Shades of Darkness on. Luckily I didn’t burn this time but I fear that future visits could wreak havoc on my pallid skin. I started off with this particular lotion because it claims to be suitable for tanners of various skin types and experience levels. I will continue to use the bottle until it’s gone. My question to you skin savvy tanners is this; as a fair-skinned tan hopeful, will I be able to achieve a healthy looking glow? I don’t want a gaudy DARK tan, just something healthy looking to show that I still have a pulse. What kind of expectations should I have and how long of a wait am I looking at? I’m quite confident that with time I can get a base tan, I just want to know how long it’s going to take and if I can do anything that can facilitate the process.

Thanks for reading and happy tanning!
Best Regards,
Mason

Did your salon offer you a skin type analysis?

Sugar,
Thank you for the warm welcome. I took a peek at your profile and didn't see any pictures so I proceeded to your website but still didn't see a picture. Neon Beach, no, my salon hasn't offered my a skin type analysis. I'll inquire about one during my next visit.

Regards,
Mason

Sorry Mason ...thought i had my pics on this site but i got mixed up with the other site ..............ive loaded my pics for you to see now & also i got this colour from tanning at home with an overhead sun canopy , so if i can get this colour from that , you will get a much deeper colour from the salon beds i would have thought cos they have much more power than mine ....

Hi Mason,

Have you tried Tantowel self-tanning towelettes yet? They are so easy to use, don't streak, stain clothing, or turn orange, and they look very natural. Many of our customers have very fair skin and absolutely love this product. Feel free to ask me more questions or visit our website.

I have seen a couple of Very Pale White redheads with freckles get as tan as the bottom color of the palm tree icon in these post in 6 weeks. But they tanned 3-4 times EVERY week and used a good medium priced lotion.

The main thing Is NEVER Burn! Start Slow and Slowly build up at Your Body's own Pace. Don't Push it, Be Consistant and use a good lotion Everytime and you should have a GREAT Tan in less than 2months!
