Period>>>>>>>> I am 45 and have tanned indoors for 10 yaers, no one ever thinks I am a day over 36....I tan indoors and out responsibly....Pale people tend to look sickly...With out the SUN there would be no life on this planet..if the sun dies then we die...........I can go to bed every night and think to myself that once again I did my part in educating the public on safe Tanning indoors and out... |

Rep Power: 0 | i think pale and proud is just trying to inform ppl to just be safe when it comes to tanning (since afterall she did lose somoeone close to her)...i'm not against tanning salons but i think maybe ppl should be aware that it is dangerous..because your increasing your risk for skin cancer....i mean i went to the salon twice and i got dark but the tan fade over a few days..and everyone knows that in order to keep a tan you have to keep tanning because it's not permananent and thats what makes it a risk for skin cancer (beacuse of sunlight exposure AND tanning beds)..i stopped tanning cuz i got fed up w/ trying to keep it...it's like a drug lols...i've read some of the post on here and i think maybe some ppl should rethink what they say....because you can get CANCER from tanning/overexposure to sunlight or ultraviolet lights..family genes increases your chances but also overexposing yourself to the sun or ultraviolet lights too. also, i'm light skinned and i don't think i look unhealthy..whats wrong w/ having natural skin color...if you think having a deep dark tan would be healthier then something must be wrong w/ you. another thing i would like to point out is that most of you associate tanning w/ smoking and drinking...but the thing is there isn't any age limit to tanning like there is to smoking and drinking...my cousin's friends who are 14-15 yrs of age are going to these salons...i know that anyone can just go in the sun..but just think about it you go to the beach, run, play, garden, swim...your always going to be expose to the sun unless you live in a box for the rest of your life..but the fact of the matter is that salon's just add more sun exposure...unless your very careful about it.. |

ALOHATANCA, doesn't it drive you nuts that it is that BLATENTLY OBVIOUS how important the sun is and how INCORRECT people are in saying to totally avoid it. It's not even that we are saying to always be in the sun, just in moderation. Here's the worst part. All of these misinformed people against sun exposure are supporting a cause that is REVENUE based, NOT actual reality. As soon as dermatologists can find out a way to make REAL money (not this crap $2-4/visit) off the sun it'll be the greatest thing for you IN MODERATION. How much money are the drug companies making off of anxiety pills? Does everyone who hates their current job need a pill to make them feel better? It's a lot easier to sell someone a pill (that is covered my INSURANCE) than to explain to them that answering the phone isn't worth $40K/year. Point being, decisions are based on the best interests of industry NOT the well being of humanity. Whether you are for or against something should be up to each individual to decide, not something as bias as the government or big business. We can run a car on recycled vegtable oil ( http://www.journeytoforever.org/biodiesel_make.html ) yet we are at the brink of world war over UNNECESSARY crude oil. Well why not when you can FORCE people to pay $2.25/gallon. |

Rep Power: 0 | Its a BILLOIN DOLLAR industry (the the ones making sunblock) the more scared they can get the public the more money they make.... There was a dermatoligist in Jersey (I think) ,that did a study on the effectiveness of sunblock in preventing cancer, took sats. from 10 yrs of material. Wrote a paper that it didn't ,(got SLAMMED by her fellow Dr.s.) If any body can look that up & post it maybe the young girl might not hate us so much. |

Rep Power: 0 | everyone needs to stop and listen to what ur saying...yes tanning salons are only based on money rather than humanity..but don't make it sound like it's a good thing...skin cancer has increased tremendously and by this rate it's going to get a lot worse....tanning beds are not worse but there not so much different from the sun...of course some sun exposure is good for you cause we get most or all of our vitamin D from the sun..but i think ppl overdo it too much...it's a trend and like some trends it won't last that long...talk to me about it in 5-10 yrs |

Rep Power: 0 | emlove your comment sounds exactly like what people said about tanning beds 20-30 years ago. "its a trend it wont last" tanning indoors is still around and will continue to be around. Some people do overdo it. But if the beds werent there dont think they wouldnt be overdoing it on their own in the sun. based on money rather than humanity is a funny comment tho. Any business out there's end goal is to make money. dont kid yourself if you think the owner of any business isnt in it to make profit. I wish some of the people that have nothing better to do than b$tch about tanning salons would hop on to a Malboro or Budweiser forum and b$tch at them. |
