in february i had one pink/red spot on my side, and slowly it began spreading on certain places on my stomach, one on my thigh, and 1-3 on both underarms. some spots are bigger than others. i went to see my doctor april 9, he said he wasnt sure what it was, so he said he 'thought' it was ringworm because of the pinkish/red appearance. he gave me cream and said they should go away in 2 weeks if its ringworm, well its still here. =( i just started tanning about 2 weeks ago, and the spots are now a faint pink/white color. oh, and they dont itch.. and i dont think its tinea versicolor, i had it on my back and it looks nothing like how it was. could it be something with pigmentation? or something serious that should be checked with a dermatologist? thanks for any help!!!

Tinea Versicolor is a possibility, but Im not sold onthe idea. Tinea Versicolor is a fungus caused by residue from your scalp falling onto your shoulders and back. Unless you are sitting naked and its fallin FORWARD onto your stomach and thighs. I don't see it.
Also don't quote me on this,BUT I dont think Tinea Versicolor Spreads. So although not IMPOSSIBLE, I would check other sources.
Just in case it IS though, a good in home remedy for Tinea Versicolor is Selsun Blue or Head and Shoulders Dandruff shampoo. Use it on the effected areas and it will eventually subside.

Re: pink/red spots on stomach now white.. ?

I had this same thing and it also started on my side as 1 or 2 spots. They didn't itch. They were like a small little rash spots. they were only on my lower back, stomach, and around my breasts. I have no idea what it is. After about 6-8 weeks they dried up and went away and now are just whiter pigmented skin spots, like sun spots. I did not get burnt before I got these, did not eat anything abnormal, and did not use a different laundry detergent. Everything I have looked up for pictures, looks nothing like what I had. It is gone now, but I want to know what it is.

you are wrong. It doesn't fall from your scalp. It's "similar" to dandruff which is that it's a fungus...not necessarily dandruff falling on your arm.

How do people get tinea versicolor all over their legs? They doing squats with their head between their legs?

And it's not selsun blue or head and shoulders you need to use, it's SELSUN (extra strength with 2.5% Selenium Sulphide) Just plain SELSUN, not selsun blue. Some don't have selenium sulphide, and some don't have enough of it. So make sure you get the right one or you're wasting your time. Shower with it, but most importantly, if you want it to go away fast, rub the Selsun on it and leave it overnight. So apply it light an ointment rather than a body wash. Shower and rinse it off in the morning. Do it about 3-4 times and you'll see it go away. Only if you tan.

Tan and you will see it start getting color and blend back in with the rest of you.

also use the selsun in your hair as well as a body wash until it's completely gone.

It may come back, so it's good to keep the selsun in your shower and use it maybe once or twice a month as a body wash/shampoo to keep it from coming back.
