I have some type of skin problem. The good news is that it is really not noticeable too much by people.
I am tanned, but in spots, I have developed these white patches of skin. The real bad part is on the upper side of my leg. Basically what happens is when I tan or lay-out, the white spots on my skin will turn red, but they will not tan. This is not caused by a tanning salon, because I had this before I started tanning at a salon. I first noticed it about a year ago. When the white part of my skin turns red, it will end up turning back to a white color. The white spots are soft and don't have any type of rough feel. I am really not sure what this is. Does anybody have any pictures on the web that will kind of show what I am talking about? Is there anybody out there that knows what I might could use to fix this? And these same places use to actually be tanned. Thanks for any help! |

You should really go to the doctor and have it checked out. It could be anything from a fungus to lack of pigment in the skin. Remember, that area has no way the protect itself from uv rays, maybe tanning with its not a good idea.

Jack, Do the spots itch? I'm no doctor, but it MAY be a type of natural yeast which we all have, but sometime it flares up in some people. IF that is the problem, there are ointments which you can buy from a tanning salon for what is known as "White Spots". A doctor can prescribe a pill for the problem as well. Another thing which has worked for a few people is using Selsen Blue shampoo as a body wash for about 2 weeks. These are in NO WAY professional suggestions, but are just things I've dealt with with a customer or two as well as infromation I have read about in different tanning magazines. Good luck!

I will bet you a belly rub Neon that this is not yeast....
I will bet it is what naturegirl labeled 'lack of pigment' ... which really should be evaluated by a doctor.... Some people are born with this - - - like a Reverse Birth Mark - it literally has no ability to produce pigment in those areas.... Some people can CAUSE this by trauma to the skin via burns (literally damaging the melanocytes in that area).... Either way - - - it should be dx'd properly and then Jack can get back to tanning with the correct information..... Who wants in on this action???? |
