hey i know there have been alot of questions about this, but here it goes. Well i've just started tanning, i've gone twice for 5 mins, and both times i got little red bumps, rash like..almost everywhere except for my face. During the summer i burn sometimes but it isn't really bad, and its not impossible for me to get a tan. I have blonde hair and blue eyes, light skin. I was wondering what i should do to prevent this for next time because it looks really bad and itches and i wish to continue tanning. I moisturize my skin alot, and it isn't dry or in bad condition. I also didn't use any lotion while tanning. What should I do??? please help!

I used to get them as well. Using a lotion is beneficial. (I wont allow anyone to tan without one) Be careful what you choose for a lotion, you shouldn't start with a "tingle" lotion. Lotions help prevent the "itchiness". And assists in preventing the aging process (if it is a good lotion). Maybe you should try a "cooling lotion". These actually cool your skin while you tan. Good luck. ~ Pam

ok well i took 2 days off from tanning and went back yesterday, i asked the owner what he thinks i should do. He said that it could be heat rash, so he put me in the stand up one for only 3 mins, and i tried a lotion. Im not too sure what its called but he said it was good for people just starting out... and i come home and get the same thing!! only now i had bigger spots on my chest that werent really bumps, red and white bumps on my back... my stomach was itching like crazy, and i got some on my arms and legs as well... i really dont know what to do?

let me tell you my story , that kept happening to me for several months & i switched lotions several times , come to find out i was allergic to lotions that had certain extracts in them ... so thats one option or you could be allergic to their sanatizer ... as far as lotions go stick to accelerators ( frosted hemp , chocolate silk , brown envy etc.) until you've developed a good base tan .. hope it works out for you ..
