white bumps on thighs & especially back of arms can be an indication of Vitamin A deficiency but be careful - Vit. A can be toxic

I'm new to this forum. I decided to get on and see how many people suffer from this tanning rash. FYI It's been happening to me for years and only recently a doctor diagnosed it is an actual condition (can't remember medical term) that is caused by over exposure. Generally occurs in areas that do not receive frequent exposure to sunlight. (i.e. chest, belly and lower back) Best way to combat this is stay out of bed, booth or natural sunlight. Once it disappears start out tanning 5 minutes for a couple of days, then 6 minutes a couple of days, etc.... After about three to four weeks the problem will disappear. However, once you have this rash you always need to be cautious of overexposure. If you start itching back off a little. The rash is not exclusive to the bed, it occurs just as frequently in the booth, or for that matter, in the natural sunlight. Twenty years of combatting this problem.

do they itch?

could just be hives.

I get them if I havent been tanning in a while, and am laying facedown in a superbed, excessively sweating. Can last for a few days. Just means my skin was not ready for that intensity.

NEVER tan damaged skin. Get it evaulated by a dermo / doc..return to tanning once you're healed, and you're given the clear by your doc.

I have been tanning for years now and these bumps that i break out with are embarable! I itch constantly! I have tried all kinds of creams for itchy skin and nothing is making it go away! The bumps are mostly on my kneck and chest and somewhat on the rest of my body. I have been taking benedryl and using the benedryl gel too and nothing is helping. I even take a day or two break between my tanning days. I own my tanning bed at home. Please can ya help me. I want to get just my base tan and I cant even get that right now cuz the bumps are so smothered on me.

Re: Tanning Bumps?

I would have to say that if they are on your belly, unless you were laying on your stomach then it probably has nothing to do with the sanitizer or tingle...because that area shouldn't have had any contact. Are you on any medications? I have heard people can even get a reaction like this after taking Theraflu and tanning. Some birthcontrols can even cause a rash when tanning.

Re: Tanning Bumps?

Or you could be having a reaction to the Detergent used on the towels.

Re: Tanning Bumps?

I think it's just some people burn much easier than others.

Solution . DO NOT FADE TO GREY.
