I am writing a college paper for my ENGLISH Class on a disproving society believes. I chose tanning due to my deep ties to the industry! (multisalon owner). I know alot of the benefits, but too think i know everyone would be crazy.. I NEED YOUR HELP, could the industry veterans and the new guys in the business, please give me all ideas, and if you have any good solid sources that have academic or at least some credibility!!! This would be great, cause I have spurred interest in a local newspaper on the subject too. They told me if my paper was good enuff I could get it published in the guest commentary section!!! ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

Brandon, I just had someone from a US college email me for the same purpose (about a week ago), disregard the news/media account of indoor tanning until you do some in depth research. Positive effects of UV exposure are hard to find unless you really look for them. Ever notice that must news articles are about the negative side of life? Contact the International Smart Tan Network (www.smarttan.com) and I'm sure they will set you up with research and positive aspects of UV exposure. Check out their website, but also contact them personally.

Brandon, research the web on Seasonal Affective Disorder aka SAD and the use of Light Therapy, SAD is a type of winter depression that affects an estimated half a million people every Winter between September and April, in particular during December, January and February.
It is caused by a biochemical imbalance in the hypothalamus due to the shortening of daylight hours and the lack of sunlight in winter. For many people SAD is a seriously disabling illness, preventing them from functioning normally without continuous medical treatment. For others, it is a mild but debilitating condition causing discomfort but not severe suffering. We call this subsyndromal SAD or 'winter blues. I have customers that come in all the time and say how depressed and gross they feel, and hate that it gets dark so early after daylight savings happens...after they get out, they always say they feel refreshed and rejuvinated..check into SAD it may or may not help you... Otherwise do you have any past trade magazines that possibly have information in them about the benefits of tanning...also check about www.tanningtruth.com |
