I need some help. I have a few clients that come in and tan at least 3times a week. They are of the older crowd. Plus they are clients from previous owner. Their skin looks so dry and aweful. I've tried to talk to them about the need for lotions. One believes its a waste of money and she uses a store bought body lotion. The other just ignores me all the way. I don't want these women to represent my salon out there. What can I do? Should I offer free lotions for after tanning at least? I do give out samples here and there. Any help would be great.
THanks
Holly

Holly your the salon owner you need to educate these tanners about the use of indoor tanning lotion. Sit down with them one on one and talk about why it's important. Also the person that brings in store bought body lotion simply tell them it's not good on your acrylics and you can't let them use it. Remember your the salon owner.

I would tell them that you are concerned about their largest organ and it's health. (the skin of course) Explain to them that tanning without proper skin care before, during, and after a session is seriously compromising the structure and appearance of their skin. Fungirlz has posted a wealth of information about skin health in this forum. Read up on it and gather your ammo. Tell them that their skin can look SO MUCH BETTER than it does now.... they just need to use the right products.

Also you might want to explain that dry skin does not absorb nearly as many UV rays as moist skin does. Eric Dann posted a great analogy about a dry sponge vs. a wet one for absorbing water. You might want to do a search for that. Tell them that they are wasting $$ because they have to use more sessions to achieve the same level of darkness...

Chica is right on. Gather the information here and then talk to them and give them a good quality tanning lotion to try out. Ask them to put the lotion on one are or one leg and leave the other dry so they can compare for themselves. Works sometimes with me

ps. If they do not want to spend money on 2 products, try selling them the Melaplus by JA. It can be used for tanning and after tanning to continue building their melanin for a great tan

I would try some of the Designer Skin products. You can help sell it by telling them about their anti-aging and skin firming complex (Worship, Goddess, Angel). If they are older, this should definitely appeal to them.

Fully Loaded is an after-tan moisturizer .... not a tanning lotion.
