Has anyone here ever had a chemical peel done? I am having a blue chemical peel done August 11th. I am a little nervous and don't know what to expect.

Who is doing the peel? What is a blue chemical peel? I know what a gycolic peel is. If a doctor or doctor supervised aesthetition is not performing the peel run.

"The Blue Peel is a new chemical peel, which gently exfoliates the skin and reverses the effects of photo-aging, allowing the skin's own clarity and tightness to resurface.

Blue Peels can offer the same results as more invasive procedures, with minimal recovery time. Blue Peels work by combining TCA (Trichloroacetic acid) with a mild chemical that controls the pH of the solution. This mild chemical is the "blue stuff" which gives the Blue Peel it's name. The combination of a powerful exfoliating agent like TCA and the mild chemical control solution allow physicians more precision, and make the Blue Peel a much gentler procedure for the patient--especially compared to deep chemical peels and laser resurfacing

Blue Peels have proven effective in treating a wide range of skin problems including: wrinkles, scars, laxity, large pores, and pigmentation problems. The Blue Peel works well on all skin types, and has proven especially useful in treating blemish-prone skin and sun damage."

Thank you so much! You gave me more information then the doctor did I think... I'm still not sure how bad I am going to peel. If my skin is peeling do you think I can just keep it really moisturized? Will this chemical peel change how well my face tans? So a blue peel isn't a deep peel or just isn't as strong as other deep peels? Anyway, thanks for your help. I guess I should make another list of questions to ask the doctor.

Yes, ask your doctor and you wont be tanning for a while after you do the peel. That would be really bad for you skin. Trust your physician.

True Blue Peels are not all that new... they have been around for about 5 years or more......
We do them in the studio with a Doctors supervision........

Be careful not to be fooled by a True Blue Peel that stays on the skin for 48-72 hours with-out washing off.......
Some "spas" or "clinics now offer the Blu Peel Treatment...which costs about 90.00 and is really nothing more than a level 30-40% glycolic...... or a modified Jesner Peel.......not the same........as a true Blue Peel.......
A true Blue Peel should be admisistered by a Licensed Paramedical with a Doctors supervision....... not just a facialist........
This is a very very aggessive peel and I caution you to have all the information about this treatment before it is
is happening to your skin...
You should be given a phone number to call any time day or night if you have a true blue peel done just in case you need help....fever.blistering..or bad reaction...........

As Jim says.....
Talk to your Doctor...get the facts............then make up your mind if you are in real need of this treatment..

Also there are clinics doing a gel that rubs off that is bluish in color and have a Lavender soothing aid.
I would be careful Melty what you post here concerning these types of peels for people who are in search of answers.
It is best you refer them to their MD. or a Specialist.

I'm having it done by a plastic surgeon. He's certified by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. I'm not sure what kind of peel it is exactly. The nurse told me it was called a blue peel because the chemical they use is a blue color. My face will be blue for 5 days and they told me I should take a week or two off from work. It's going to be $500. The other idea was to have dermabrasion done-$1200. I'm still going to college and trying to save money during the summer. I decided it would be easier to come up with $500 instead of $1200.

And remember you wont be tanning for at least six months after a chemical peel. Your skin is extremely tender after that procedure and must be moisturized daily and kept out of the sun!! We do medically supervised micro-dermabrasion in our studio at about half the cost your MD is charging. Shop around. Good luck.

I am no expert in this but I think I would prefer the dermabrasion. I have had it done twice and liked the results. The place in my area that does this in only about 500.00 for 6 or 8 sessions. They are MD supervised skin specialists.
