You mean you've had micro-dermabrasion done right? I've had micro-dermbrasion done about 6 times-3 sessions for $150. I didn't really notice any difference either. Actually I thought it was a waste of money. It's a long story, but my insurance company covered it at first so I wasn't out any money-thank god. It felt like she had just used an exfoliator on my skin. I spoke to the the nurse about dermabrasion too. She told me they have to put a number of shots in your face to numb the area. Then they do one treatment of microdermbrasion just to get all the dead skin cells off. The DR uses something that looks like a sander after that. She showed me before/after pictures and they all looked very good. I didn't get to see any pictures of people from right afterwards. The nurse said their faces look like new hamburger? Afterwards I would have to wear bandages on my face for a week and take medication so I wouldn't get an infection in it. She told me if I got any sun after having that done it would change the pigmentation color in my face. She recommended I take 2-3 weeks off from my job and I just can't afford to do that now. A couple plastic surgeons in my area won't even perform dermabrasion. What kind of lotion do you think I should use?? When I was on accutane I couldn't keep my skin moisturized and I was applying lotion ALL the time. I'm afraid after I have this done I won't be able to keep my face moisturized for a couple weeks. I'm on retin-a right now and my skin has been very dry. I was using lotion with alpha hydroxy and vitamin e, but now I'm using skin milk. The skin milk has actually been helping a lot for some reason.

I'm having the chemical peel done August 11th. We have a pool and I really don't think I could go one whole summer without swimming in it. So that is why I planned it so far ahead. School starts August 25th for me so hopefully my skin isn't peeling really bad. I thought about having it done during x-mas break, but she told me it would be really dry and cracked. I'd have to wear something over my face everytime I went out. The nurse told me I couldn't be in the sun for 3 months and then after that I would need to wear a really strong SPF(50+) outside for 3 months. Sorry I talk so much. So you see-it was either keep doing microdermabrasion, have a chemical peel, or have dermabrasion done. If I see good results with this peel I might have one more done next summer. I'll let you guys know.

I forgot to tell you why i was even having it done. I've had acne for the last 10 years and have tried a number of different medications. I used accutane twice and that left with me scars. I think the scars look bad and thats all I see in the mirror when I look at myself. In my classes I don't talk(imagine that!):D a lot and I try not to be noticed because I'm afraid people are looking at my scars. Do you think people are judging me because of my scars too? I'd hate to say people are like that, but I'm afraid sometimes its true. Sometimes I don't understand why people would even want to be my friend because of my scars. I know that sounds really dumb. I think a lot of my depression problems stem from my acne too. People tell me the scars aren't really bad. I think they are though. Maybe its just an illusion or maybe everyone is trying to be nice. When I was younger my mom used to complain about this wrinkle she had between her eyes. Well I'm only 20 years old and when I look in the mirror I see my mother-I've got that darn wrinkle! So maybe this peel will help it. Sorry I talk so much. lol I tend to talk things out...

You Marylynne are having a True Blue Peel..

Being with a Board Certified Plastics Doc is the ONLY way to go ....

Please Please.......use the balms and high SPF factors after treatment is done....
AN NO SMOKING!!!!! if you smoke.. OK..NONE AT ALL!!!!!
You will NOT want to tan your face for quite a long while after this......maybe even give up tanning the face after this and use a Bronzer for the colour you want on it...but no sun or UV for a good Looooooong time ..
Congratulations on making the decision to do "self improvement"...
In this life.........it really is All About You... or I should say about what we want to do for ourselves........to look and feel good........

My Best to you ......
Keep us posted......
and when you see yourself after...remember ..the skin heals amazingly well............. ...

Christopher:
It is important that you as a Mod here give not just "cut and paste answers" to the good people who are in search of the right direction or answer..

No one has all the answers Chris..no one expects you to have them either.. but it is EXPECTED of you to keep the area you are responsible for your area of open discussion..

No one expects you a 21/22 year old college student to mentor or guide them...rather it is expected of you to just keep your area flowing in a positive direction and it is your job to seek out the EXPERTS who have paid their dues and have a PROVEN success record to help you with topics...
Christopher this is a professional site that allows tanners to come on and post........

let me repeat....A PROFESSIONAL SITE!!!

Christopher..
I like you.....you know that baby boy.....but I will NOT have this sites credability brought crashing down because some one got on a little high horse and was on a bit of a head trip because they were given access to the back door of the kingdom... That lock can be changed.....fact plain and simple.... doesn't mean I dislike you.it means you can NOT abuse the power of the key...

Tan Talk has worked too long and too hard to fall to a young Prince who needs time to grow and learn that the true successful kingdoms rely on a "BOARD who discusses TRUTHS and TOTAL FACTS".......

The 1st lesson on this situation Christopher was this for you..
When in doubt ASK..before you put information out to the general public... You have a responsibility to meet the STANDARDS of those who work each and every day in this industry as professionals.........and to those whop read this site for answers...

Use your wonderful creative mind to lead the tanners into great topics......search for the EXPERTS to answer the important questions..

You Chris are Not an Expert and should NEVER put on the lab coat or the shoes of an owner/manager/distrib or manuft.... and pretend you are.. this is not good..and I will NOT play with you on this matter one bit!!! It is offensive... We work our butts off Christopher in this industry ....We wear the shoes and coats and tote the leather brief cases.. not you...

I am sorry for hurting your feelings..... I care about you Christopher...you are very special to me.......and this site is VERY VERY SPECIAL as it was my home for Over a year............100s of hours are here of my life..and I will not stand for BS... you know this about me Christopher...

Now.....go post some groovy stuff and have fun...oh...leave the lab coat and the brief case in the areas they belong..and put on your Tommys and go get busy being the GREAT MELTY we know and LOVE!!!!

I don't smoke so that won't be a problem. I know I should wear a high spf, but why?? Does it have to do with the pigmentation thing? Why can't you smoke afterwards? My doctor didn't tell me anything about smoking. What kind of bronzer do you think I should use on my face? My face never tans very well anyway. Do you think after the chemical peel it will be like brand new skin-will it tan better? Thanks for all your help.

Your skin will be hyper-sensitive after this treatment.... for quite awhile after....but after you heal you will just be so happy with the results....you'll want to baby your skin..
You would never tan a baby would you??? well your face will be like baby skin......
SPF to protect the fresh baby skin... every single day.............OK..
Your skin will be too tender to tan it.. and it will look so beautiful you will not want to spoil it.....

No it won't tan better it will hurt the beautiful tissue..........SPF will protect the face. Pigmentation can occur if it is not kept in the BEST light.. .....
Bronzers for the face..wow there are so many.
Look into CalTans Bronzer for the face a beautiful poweder...

80% of smokers do not heal well after a proceedure....lack of circulation, toxic bulid up and thin skin....
Smoking is not good for anything...........but especialy if you are having something serious done to the skin........

Again our Best to you and your new skin.......

C
