I'm only 25 but I am really starting to freak out about them...

Chris, do you have any suggestions on how to minimize the appearance of undereye wrinkles?

I moisturize my whole face religiously morning and night. At night I use Neutrogena Visibly Firm moisturizer and during the day Saving Faces... I also use Line Defense (by L'Oreal I think) which is something that says "pure retinol" on it and is supposed to reduce lines in this area...

is there anything else that I can do?

OK.......JILL... are these lines from the sun that have no "tan" or are they etchings? actual loss of strength in the tissue?

Remember you have high allergies.....are you rubbing your eyes alot Jill? are your allergies flaired right now?

I do have nasty allergies but I am very very careful not to rub my eyes if I can at all help it... because I'm so worried about the lines.

I don't think the lines are from the sun because they are tan... or maybe they are and they just get tan in the beds. I doubt it though because they are very visible when I smile... and there are etchings around the sides of my eyes from that as well.

I looked at the eye stuff I use. It's called Line Eraser (the eye formula) and it says that it's pure retinol. The tube says that it may cause tingling or burning on the skin but I've never experienced that...

I'm sure Chris will get into more detail with this, but I have been told thatretinol is very dangerous in the eye area. It exfoliates very intensely, and over time will thin the skin. The skin under your eyes is ver thin and sensitive already. I am not the expert, but I think that this can lead to more creasing over time. At our age (I am 25 as well) I think over-doing the retinol around the eyes could actually speed the aging process....If I were you I'd try a gentler eye cream with a bit of SPF.

Line erace is not a good product NJ; it is hard on the tissue.
Try using something that is comforting and soothing.
I have allergies and I use cool tea packs at night.

When I win the lottery I am going to go to a good plastic surgeon and have him/her take care of all my flaws...

I am not familiar with the Line Erase product but I am very familiar with Retinol..
Retinal is reported to enhance the skins radiance and help conditions such as fine lines…wrinkles as well as acne..actinic keratosis..rosacea and even oily skin………..
It is also considered by some of us necessary for normal epidermal cell growth….
Retinal has increased penetration and is known to be less irritating to tissue…….this is why it is found in a lot of anti-aging crèmes and serums…
Remember something here folks when this product is used on sensitive skin for a prolonged period of time it can cause dermatitis………….

Everything in moderation when using anti-aging serums and lotions…….

Hope this helps….

Chris, What is the best way to use retinol moderately? Would you suggest buying a tube and using it daily until you run out in a few months or so, and replacing it with a non-retinol product? Or would you alternate it with something else at a certain interval through the week?

Re: lines under eyes

yeah, im 13 and i have prominent lines/dark circles under my eyes, apparently from all the late nights doing homework. They have been constant for about two years now. Besides from homework my life isn't very stressful, but there just isnt enough time in the day for me to sleep. it seems as though homework has stolen my youth from me. yeah.
