...cooking burns, or other scarring...how do you treat this area when it comes to tanning?I had quite a nasty burn from cooking (maybe I should just order out!)on my left hand.I put sunblock on it for the first several times that I tanned afterwards, then got kind of lazy.It has healed well, but has left such an ugly, embarrassing scar.I've tried applying Mederma, which I found in a drug store. Is there anything special you do , especially while tanning, for scars, that will help them go away?

In my experience, tanning will either lighten or darken a scar. Putting sunscreen on it when tanning is about all you can do - if you don't want to find out which your skin will do. Some lotions make claims that they can lighten a scar, but I'd be skepical.

I work around hot grease every day and have burned myself plenty of times. I usually put aloe vera on them and I have no scars from any of the burns. Good luck!

California Tan has the very best product called Insurance........
Hate the name LOVE the product....
I burned my leg on Jims Harley Pipes one summer being a smarty pants and jumping on it from left to right.......YOUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Use the CT Insurance...not one single sign I was ever burned.....and I tell you I was a blisted sister.............

Do not ever tan a fresh burn or open wound....always always cover this area with a bandage or gauze ................
If you have a discoloration ...........use an SPF of 15-30 so it doesn't darken......

Yeah, that Insurance is awesome! I never thought of using it for skin burns. But for a sunburn - it's the best!
