Hello,
I hope somebody will have an answer to this one. I had a customer tan in one of our VHR beds the other day pointing out blotchy white spots on her stomach when she came out of the room . She's been tanning with us for a while now and has developed a nice med. tan. She said this was not the first time she's had this problem, (it happened when tanning in our Standup unit as well) and was just curious what it might be. Now I remember reading something about "ringworm" from the looks of the blotchy spots but of course didn't tell the customer that. (didn't want to freak her out). Any answers? Thanks |

It sounds like the tinea versicolor to me. Tell her to use Selsun Blue shampoo a couple times a week to get the fungus out of her head and hair. I had a client back in November come in that had this all over her stomach, arms and back. Once she used the Selsun Blue for about 3-4 weeks the spots totally disappeared.
There is a great thread regarding this here. Search Tinea Versicolor |

Question, what about the Opposite of this....
I have just one patch of 'darker' skin on my bicept...this skin is darker than my tanned skin......what is that!!!??? My cousin has the same thing, when she tans....It comes out when we tan, so its not a beauty mark... melty |

Thanks for all the info. I haven't seen her since so I'm not sure if she still has the blotchy spots but I do recall her saying she gets them on her stomach and back and it lasts for a few days or so. (didn't exactly ask how long, I will next time- also not sure if it itched)Anyway, I don't think it's the lotion like someone menitoned, I do believe it's some sort of fungus. I'll let her know about the shampoo and keep you posted- Thanks again for all your help and your quick reply
