Did anyone ever figure out if there are Baby Lotions that don't contain mineral oil? I'm still trying to figure out if Mineral Oil usuage is bad all the time or only when tanning. So far, I've not had any luck finding an over the counter product that didn't contain mineral oil and would love to hear of something that doesn't. Since the salon I tan with doesn't sell any moisturizers I have to obtain my stuff elsewhere.

The following quote has been "lifted" from Christine....

"Lets look at MINERAL OIL…than ask yourself do I want this in my products for my skin,,,,or on my machines……

It is produced as a byproduct of the distillation of gasoline from crude oil. Mineral oil is the leftover liquid, and because it is abundant, it is very inexpensive. In fact, it is more expensive to dispose of mineral oil, than to purchase it. The problem is that mineral oil is foreign to the human body and has many harmful effects, especially on a baby.

Mineral oil acts as a thin plastic layer on the skin. Think of that!!!!!!!

It is difficult to absorb and clogs the pores, which slows the skin’s ability to eliminate toxins. Remember, the skin is the body’s largest organ and plays an important role in maintaining overall health!

Once the oil is absorbed, it is broken down by the liver and passes through the intestinal tract……….. And once the oil is present in the intestinal tract, it will absorb all of the fat-soluble vitamins found there. It is essentially stealing important vitamins from the body, which the body will not be able to replace. This can eventually lead to nutritional deficiencies…………."

We understand baby lotion w/mineral oil is a no-no when tanning - but that doesn't answers Luv2's question though about using it at other times. I use Baby Magic too and it's been gathering dust because now I am mineral oil paranoid. Anyone?

Well Johnson and Johnson's Baby Lotion does contain serveral waxy ingredients and oil byproducts. Earlier in this post Christine stated that she used Baby Lotion so it must not be all that bad to use. Outside of the tanning bed of course. Or is it that putting it on top of another product you are "protecting" your skin from the evils of mineral oil? I'm glad that I'm not the only one that is unclear on whether or not to use this on my skin. Christine, do you anything further to help clear up using this or other products with mineral oil? Outside the tanning bed of course.
