Rep Power: 0 | I was wondering what ingredient(s) to watch for that are active in sun protection. I know many of these ingredients are in make-up and over the counter lotions, but I don't know what to look for or avoid when tanning. Thanks for any help. |

Rep Power: 24 | ValMccoy: Let me ask you this are you allergic to anything? You need to avoid things that you are sensitive to.. Example: My husband is very sensitive to Paba....... Some spfs have paba in them.. When he uses a product with paba in it he gets very very tired and falls asleep......... I carry an spf with paba when we go to the beach just in case hes eye balling beach bunnies.......... I say oh honey pie..your nose is looking a tad pink.let me put some sun protection on you.... and BOOM in 5 minutes he's asleep. One of the keys to a successful 25 year marriage...... ........ |

Rep Power: 0 | On tanning lotions, I know when I see dihydroxyacetone, the lotion contains a self-activated tanning ingredient. Extra care needs to be used when applying. Many of my tanners still purchase moisturizers from drug stores, etc. If they are having trouble acheiving the tan they want when using the proper intensifiers, I need to know what ingredients to look for in their moisturizer . If it contains a sunscreen, that may be part of their problem. I am just trying to educate myself as well as my tanners in regard to the various ingredients in the products they put on their skin and what each ingredient does. |

Rep Power: 24 | If it contains a sunscreen, that may be part of their problem.. Yes this will be a problem when they are tanning indoors.... be sure you remind them that you control the time......which controls the UV...they should not wear an SPF unless it is for "specific need"....tattoo covering.....or they are having treatment on the skin that is preped with an SPF......follow? I use SPF on my face when tanning because I get a lot a lot of freckles.....and so I protect my nose and cheeks....follow? Remember an SPF will help to block or filter the rays....... C |

Rep Power: 0 | What I am looking for is an actual listing of the ingredients that are considered sunscreen ingredients, ie. PABA. Many of these ingredients are in products that you purchase at the store, but the product itself is not labeled as an SPF product. I want to be able to pick up any product and determine if it contains an SPF by looking at the ingredient list. |
