Rep Power: 27 | Chamomile Best for: Relieving dry, itchy, sensitive skin. Also moisturizes hair and brings out blond highlights. The scent can have a relaxing effect. Origin: A daisy doppelganger, this flower is native to Europe and North Africa. In Victorian England, shamomile was used to calm people suffering from hysteria. Why it works: "Chamomile is in many sensitive-skin products because it contains alpha bisabolol and azulene, whicvh heal wounds and stop inflammaiton," says Leslie Baumann, director of cosmetic dermatology at the University of Miami. How to enjoy it: Give yourself a soothing chamomile facial steam. Scatter loose chamomile tea in a medium bowl, then fill the bowl with boiling water. Place your face 10 inches above the steaming bowl whle the chamomile steeps (about 5 to 10 minutes). |
