I saw this post on another site made by Shore. "Flushing your skin is actually healthy." What do you think of this post?

Tingle lotions allow skin to tan easier, this is proven and a great sales pitch. "You can even feel it working" is yet another. Whoever is waiting for a lawsuit will be waiting for quite a while.Benzyl or methyl Nicotinate is really just the vitamin niacin. Flushing your skin is actually healthy. Clients are liable for their own actions, even if that means taking the advice of another.

I heard a rumour last week: "Tingles cause the melanin to burn out faster." People actually believe thet you can "burn out" your melanin? Has anyone heard this one??? Also, have you noticed that cosmetics companies such as vichy are using niacin in their products as an "innovative radiance booster?"

The tingles ingredients used in tanning products , ie. Benzyl-, Methyl-, Tocopherol-, Dimethylhexapentyl-, ….etc-…. “Nicotinate” are all chemical derivates if you will of Niacin a vitamin B derivate. All of them share one common property they are vasodilators. This vasodilatation property causes, an increase in the amount of blood flow to the surface of the skin, thus the red flush look to the skin.

The reason you see niacin in various our cosmetic products, including radiance boosters, cellulite creams, breast enhancement or any product designed to give immediate visual improvement, is due largely to this flushing effect. It provides a relatively immediate boost to the turgid and even appearance of the skin. (Almost as if it were younger and healthier)

With regards to the tingles burning out the melanin, this is a rumor and does not to the best of my knowledge hold any truth. We have started to see a nationwide decrease however in the popularity of tingle products. (I know, every time you say this someone, says that they still have tingle freaks, that are still looking for hotter, however as a whole, there have been a definite decline in the popularity of tingles)

I do not think the tingles will ever completely disappear from the fray, so it is important to familiarize your staff with the “tingle” response. We always recommend sampling or patch testing a small amount of tingle product on the underside of the forearm, the first time someone uses a tingle product. Not all people will have the same response, and it is best to pretest before having someone use on their entire body.

For those that have tingle fans, and are noticing they are not as responsive to the tingles, recommend they alternate between their tingle product and a non-tingle or bronzer. It is possible to build resistance to the tingle ingredient response.

Sorry if my spelling, or grammar is off today. I spent yesterday at the Outback Bowl, Michigan vs. Florida and Me and some friends vs. Every Beer we could fit in three SUV’s, so I am still a bit in S….L…..O….W M…..O….T….I….O…N today…

Happy New Year everyone, I wish everyone a safe and prosperous 2003.

Eric
