"Benzoyl peroxide is the main ingredient in such over-the-counter drugs as Clearasil™ and Oxy-10™. It has two methods of action: as an exfoliation agent and as an antimicrobial, or bacteria reducing, agent. Unfortunately, benzoyl peroxide eradicates less than 94% of bacteria on the skin surface. Within a six-hour period of time, the remaining 6% of bacteria will multiply, forming a new overgrowth of bacteria on the skin surface."

When Christine gets back, I would really like to know the truth about this ingredient....because it is IN SO MANY PRODUCTS.......

from what i understand Benzoyl Peroxide also ages your skin (by getting lines and wrinkles faster) i heard that using salicylic acid is better

Benzoyl Peroxide comes in different strengths..
It can be in a creme form or gel when used in products..

it is an anti-bactreial ingredient and is commonly used in products for acne treatments.
It functions by forcing an oxident (peroxide in this case) into the pilosebaceous orifice and releases oxygen thereby helping to diminish the P. acnes population.... Follow?

This reduces the fatty acids and the high level of skin infection. You wouldn't want to use this product for more than 30 days..unless advised by a professional.

Benzoyl Peroxide will cause irritation to sensitive skin.
Most concentration of BP is 1.0-3.0 some more aggressive BPs are at 5%-10% but these are carried by a licensed certified facility...
