Yes, this seems to be a problem I've heard from many in the North..
The wind and weather is taking a toll on thier skin..
Remember to try to find a creme' that has a barrier protector in it to help seal in the moisture..

I shivered to hear 30s and 40s...
On the way to the air port in Nashville it was like 60 and I kept thinking.. theres no place like home..theres no place like home..
Just the thought of it dropping into the 50s makes my nose chilly..

But freshly fallen snow is a real beautiful sight...

Let us hear what is going with your skin this season!!

Cold up here in Wisconsin...we had our first snow-fall today where I live...I have oily skin but since I am on Accutane right now my skin is very dry and the harsh effects of the cold are making it worse...when I was on accutane before I was on it in the summer so I am not used to the strong effects from the cold....My skin is overly dry and seems to itch a lot, I am going absolutely crazy, what I dont understand is that when I put on moisturizer sometimes it stings my face, and it is fragrance free??? Chris right now I am using a lot of Formulated products like the foaming face wash, pineapple exfolliant, finale and my skin feels great when I use these products but I need something more for the dry skin...any recommendations??? Do you carry anything at you studio that would benefit my skin??

Thanks..Christina

Let us take a look now at aging skin.

Aging skin can be recognized by it’s poor elasticity..lack of firmness and the sagging.. this is because of the loosening of the fibroblast in the dermis.
It also is characterized by a thicker stratum cornrum with a thin epidermis and also dermis.....because of dehydration and dryness it has lines and wrinkles and etchings...there is little oil gland activity and it takes on the look of “old ivory”.....because the melarlin production diminishes.. I love these people.( truly I do) These are the ones you can recognize who have wisdom..and strength .. these are the ones you need to turn to for advice and answers to life’s questions.

This process is a biological one which affects various layers of the skin…..mostly the dermis.
Nutritional values begin to get deficient and the process takes a toll on the cellular components with-in the different tissues. This impacts the elasticity, a reduction in moisture levels and the skin begins to degenerate.

Very little can be done if the aging process is intrinsic or chronological. It will happen to each and every one of us if we live into our late late years. It is just apart of the passage of time. Intrinsic aging is irreversible.

Extrinsic aging is something we can help prevent.. It is caused by hormonal imbalances, outdoor environment such as wind, sun, heat, cold, this destroys cells and robs the epidermis of essential moisture and oils. Other factors that cause extrinsic aging is stress, your life style ( partying too too much) , improper skin care products or not caring for the skin at all, health issues, improper diets. If your spending any amount of time in the sunshine.. use a sun factor of 15 or higher on the face and neck…don’t forget those ears!!!!

Current anti-aging crèmes and lotions emphasize “return to a smoother younger appearance”… Look for products containing AHAs and Vitamin A and its derivatives..
When treating aging skin it is important you pick products that hydrate but also stimulate and revitalize the skin. No one product or ingredient can accomplish this for an individual. A complete skin care regime is necessary.
It’s never too early to begin a good skin care program..
Encourage your guests to protect their skin and tan in moderation.
You will see some who are very etched and saggy.. it is your job to advise them to hydrate the skin .. Remember they are your BEST advertisement.

If a good skin care program is a regular pratice for you, you can have beautiful skin in your golden years..

Look Good Feel Good, Have Fun..

Also, I remember that people should not use exfoliating products too much while on Accutane...

The Pineapple exfoliant could be drying out your skin, in combination with the Accutane...

Christopher,
Pineapple Exfoliant is not a drying product.. it is an enzyme.. it only targets and disolves "dead cells".. it leaves fresh tissue in place and adds moisture binding properties to skin that is fresh and smooth..

With Pineapple you can use it on the most sensitive of skins.. as long as ther is not reaction to Pineapples..

Try it once you do you will be hooked!!!!

Think of this Pineapple as not so much an exfoliation rather a sluffer of dead cells..

Now let us focus our thoughts on a condition called PIGMENTATION….

It is a condition resulting from uneven distribution of melanin over the surface of the individuals skin surface……it could be because the accumulation of pigment in the cases of actinic keratosis and lentigo..or the melanocytes are producing the uneven melanin which causes a condition called melasma.

Melanocyte cells are located in our basal layer of the epidermis. Think of it this way.. from there it projects a series of tentacles and each of them is surrounded by a large number of regular cells....
We know from basis skin structure knowledge that melanocytes are responsible for producing melanin.. it is a complex brown-black pigment which travels to the stratum corneum and gives us our skin colour.( Follow?)..
Remember the rate of melanin production will vary from individual to individual and vary because of the race of the individual persons.
Melanin acts as our protection from harmful UV Rays and helps to filter the effects of sun exposure. ( Right there tells us a tan is good for us!! ).. A sun tan is is basically the bodys protective response against internal skin damage.. !!!!!
Lets move on.

Lentigo …..known as brown spots or liver spots or some times referred to as age spots happens when there is an uneven accumulation of melanin deposits in the epidermis or surface layer of our skin. When melasma or hyperpigmentation happens it is the result of melanocytes producing a greater amount in the area that is discolored, or it could be that the melanin is not being properly absorbed by the keratinic cells.
This usually happens during pregnancy or if the individual has a hormonal imbalance such as being on the birth control pill..maybe going through menopause or even may have a nervous condition going on.
Dark spots on the skin can also be the result of Acne conditions ....( we will talk about Acne later on )

The best treatment for this skin disorder is bleaching crèmes.. (which should be applied at night time before going to bed).... When using a bleaching product avoid the sun light on the areas being treated and use a good SPF of 15 or higher. The sun or Ultra-violet machines will make the condition reoccur. Failure to use an SPF will most likely neutralize whatever result the bleaching product has given the individual.

Can a person with un even pigmentation tan?
Yes.. but in the areas they are patched in colour, they must care for the areas and reduce the chances of the patching by covering the area and maintaining good skin care through-out their life.
I suggest you speak to your guests who have this condition and encourage them to purchase a sun factor to ensure they are getting the Best Tan they can get.

Are you enjoying this topic of Skin Conditions?
