Okay this happen to me years ago when I was very uneducated.... But another topic trigged a memeory.

Years ago I would go to the lake on the weekends, and a lot of the afternoons after work. One girl I worked with told me she used butter to tan with. So I got me a tub of butter one Saturday and headed for the lake. I laid out on the lake bank for hours and hours. Needless to say I went home looking like a lobster. Ever since that little butter treatment I have had spots on my back that are itchy and flaky. Some times are worse than other times.

This girl told me that I shouldn't have used butter with salt in it, that she used saltless butter. Would that really make a difference? Now I know I shouldn't have used butter(margerine) and stayed out for hour on hours but that is hindsight.

But my question now is, "Can I get rid of this after all these years?" Or is my skin damaged beyond repair?

Could it have been the iodine in the salt?

I shudder to think of all the baby oil/iodine concotions we used to slather on ourselves. Must have been the first 'bronzers'. That was when I was young & foolish.

Where did caltan get the name "butter"...

Was it derived from cocoa butter, or was it from real BUTTER???
