Chris, what is the deal with freckles? I seem to have more when I have a tan. Or maybe they are just more noticeable. I like the ones on my cheeks. I also have them on my arms and legs and I don't like them so much.

What causes them? Have they always been there and I'm just noticing? Or am I really getting more as time goes on?

A freckle is a sign that
"The Sun Kissed You" ... .... Shhhhhh don't tell anyone.... It means you are loveable..and kissable..

Freckles are given to only very special people.. they are a sign of youth , beauty and an outward sign that you are brilliant!!!

How do I know this???

I have them mostly on my upper legs.

Where do they come from? Why is it important when skin typing to know if a person freckles easy? What happens when one is over-exposed (God Forbid) with the freckles? Are they dangerous for hard-core tanners? Are freckly people more prone to skin cancers?

Just some thoughts to ponder Chris.

I know some of these questions will make some uneasy, but there are answers and it is reality folks.

Awwwwww freckles…
The cute little dots that cluster on the skin……..
They are also known as Ephelides.. ( but the name freckle is so much better)…
Generally these cute dots are predominantly benign..but they may be seen with systemic disease.

Genetics play a big role in who gets blessed with the freckles..and who aren’t..
Some individuals may have somatic mutations in their skins melanocytes, causing an increased melanogenesis. Thus creating the pigment that produces these guys..

These freckles are usually found in fair skinned people.. red heads and blondes..

They first appear around age 2 and continue to increase in number into adulthood.
As one becomes older they decrease… ( I’m never going to get old!! I like em!!

Most freckles are found on the areas of the body that are exposed to the sun..
That’s why I say the sun kissed you..

Genetics again dictate these guys.. they are a dominate trait.

If you have a freckle that has become raised.. or changes in appearance have it checked out by a MD. Don’t ever let a spot that changes in shape and color go .. Have it checked out..

If you hate them hate them.. you can use a bleaching cream.. but then you must wear a 45 sun factor… I say enjoy them..

Genetic I know where I got mine. My grandfather was a RED Head Indian. Go figure that one. My grandmother was a dark skin dark hair gal. No Indian in her blood. :confused:

hmmmmmmm I thought I posted this but I guess not.... my dad is 1/2 Italian and 1/2 Swedish, 100% on both sides. my mother is 1/4 Cherokee Indian and my grandfather on that side is God knows what....

my mom's brothers and sisters all have red hair and freckles. My dad has none; he looks Italian. My sister looks like a little Swedish girl. And my mother just looks dark-haired and pale-skinned.

Then there's the African-American offspring of this cross..... who has dark brown hair and olive skin. (see MemberPhotos) I get very dark but I have those freckes everywhere.

But this information is basic knowledge in skin care educational manuals..
I believe it should be knowledge ALL salon owners should have..
