Rep Power: 28 | Ask the expert on page 39. According to Margaret McLean Heitkemper, Ph.D, R.N. (University of Washington, Seattle) Botox now FDA approved for the treatment of wrinkles, works by paralyzing specific muscles in order to reverse their effects on the skin above them. (this we already new) What else is it used for? She states: More recently, clinical research has focused on whether Botox can be used to treat tension headaches, migraines, cluster headaches, and chronic pain of the neck, shoulder and back. In these studies, Botox appears to be effective for some patients, but testing is still ongoing. Sounds good to me, I have a tension headache almost daily, neck and shoulder pains daily. (long story, but this gal has lived a wreckless life in the younger days) |
