A while back, my face burned after using a stronger bed than I should have been allowed to use, or maybe they just put me in for too long, I don't know.

Anyways, I used to get a decent tan on my face but now it just gets a little red and after the redness fades, I don't think I am any darker than before. The rest of me is very tan.

Will this always be this way?

Is there anything I can do? Would using a very low SPF when I tan help?

What if I went back to using only the lowest wattage beds?

If nothing can be done, I guess I will have to use a face spray like Bronze Faces or something like that?

Thanks!

Just remember tanning is a process, and not a race... This is often very noticeable on the face.

Think about doing shorter sessions more times, rather than longer more intense sessions.

If you notice your face becoming red more easily think about using an spf product, especially, and always!! if you are tanning outdoors.

Talk with the salon owner of the salon that you are tanning, and let them recommend products that are designed especially for the face.

Let them know the results you are finding with the sessions you are currently tanning. Let them know what you are finding, and they will work with you to be sure that the tan you are developing is a healthy, natural tan... You should never burn... If the salon that you are going to can not help you after you talk with them about what you are finding... My advice find another salon... Bronzed..
Let me ask you.. are you going in with a clean face? or do you have some type of moisturizer on it while going in the machines?? do you have on make-up while in the machine?
What are you using when tanning the face?
Do you have a product just for the face, neck and chest?
Are you using the same product on your face as you use on your body?
give me a bit more information and maybe we can find out a reason this is happening..
Eric is right..
If the salon is not advising you.. maybe you need to find a new one.. but for now lets see what we can come up with ok.

Always going in with a clean face, never with makeup on.

So far I have tried all the popular face tannign lotions (eg carotene cream, illuminate, browning silk, etc.) I like them all but I still get red.

I don't usually use the same lotion on my face as on my body, unless it's just basic browning lotion. I don't use lotions with tingle or bronzer agents on my face.

Does your salon have beds with facial tanners in them??
And if so have you tried using one??

My Studio has Ultra-Sun beds.. We have facial tanners in all machines except 2 of our 3000s ( basic beds).. and the VHR SunCapsule (which is a 10 min stand-up machine).

I use facial tanners every other session..
I shut my facial bulbs off after about 10 minutes into my 20 minute session..
I use Matahari Lustrous for my face when tanning it ( it has a slight bronzer in it).. but the facial lotion is so great.. I can wear it right under my make-up..
I have freckles so I do use California Tans SPF 15 for the face when ever I go out in the sun..
My husband loves my freckles.. but I say ... a few are fine.. lots.. welllllll... I feel like Annie and who wants to be cute when your my age.. ..

I hope we can help you pull colour on the face..
Let's keep trying to figure what you can do to get it to tan..

I use Oil of Olay daily facial cloths to cleanse my face, followed by Clinique moisturizer.

The beds I use don't have facial units.

Should I try Supre Facial Tan Maximizer with SPF 4 and Bronzer? Does anyone think this might help?

I doubt you will find support here for Supre.
