I have never felt we should exfoliate our face with a scrub.. We talked about this before at great length..

I am a fan of Microdermabrasion and glycolic pels in moderation..

Formulated Solutions has developed a Pineapple exfoliant that is not abrasive on the skin..
Apply a thin layer to the face, neck and chest area and the pineapple enzyme will then eat away the dead skin cells like a pack man.. rinse off after about 3 or 4 minutes and the skin is as soft as a babys butt..

What a wonderful product.. no peeling the product off.. no rubbing.. just a thin layer wait and rinse and waaaalaaa...fresh beautiful skin...

Eric tell us more about this product you have created...

We are selling it now and it can be used on the entire body!!!

sounds like it should smell wonderful. Can we sample it? It sells for? Would you wholesale it to our salons to retail?

I think (past lic hairstylists, worked for Revlon, merle normal etc) using a scrub, peel, etc everday is not good on the skin. I think once a or twice a month is all that is needed.

I am sure that all of you are fully aware of the benefits of proper exfoliation prior to tanning, as well, as part of a natural skin care routine.

That being said, most people are not aware of the negative aspects of using heavily abrasive exfoliants on the skin, especially on the face, neck and chest area which are some of the most sensitive skin areas. Using walnut shell products, salt scrub type products or the newest ones the polyethylene beads on the face are like knocking over a foot high beach sand castles with a wrecking ball. Very little control with these types of products, even thought the skin feels healthy and smooth, you really are exposing cells not ready to be exposed and can be very harsh on the skin.

If you have ever cut fresh pineapple before you may remember the way your fingers felt after cutting, almost slick to the touch. (If it has been as while, try it, cut one up, it makes for a good demonstration of what is natural exfoliation) The Derm Renew Pineapple Exfoliant is non-corrosive to the skin and non-abrasive and contains a natural fruit enzyme Bromelain. Bromelian, is a fruit enzyme (from pineapples) that targets the digestion of certain proteins, especially prevalent in dead skin cells. I think a while back we discussed what an enzyme is, just think of them as natures little biochemical scissors.

I am firm believer in less is some times more with the skin. Using the wrecking ball approach to skin exfoliation increases TEWLS (Trans Epidermal Water Loss) of the newly exposed skin cells, this in combination with the tanning process which can be drying as well, is not good for the skin.

The process of exfoliation of the Bromelain is different than that with AHA’s or BHA’s that gained moderate popularity in the late 80’s and 90’s for their non-abrasive exfoliation. Similar to abrasive exfoliation AHA’s and BH acids will digest healthy cells as well as dead skin cells, and can also be extremely corrosive to the skin.

Routine use of the Pineapple Exfoliant will contribute to more even skin tones, and reduced facial lines, but perhaps not because of the reason you may have thought. Also formulated into the exfoliant is Galactoarabanan, which comes from a pine tree in Northern Minnesota not only does it do really well at moisturizing, decrease of 20-30% in TEWLS, it has been shown to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. The product was originally formulated for individuals with Couperose Skin (Broken or dilated capillaries) and is currently being marketed through several dermatology clinics and really fine skin care and tanning salons like Transformation Studios. Without reading the entire thread, I will say this:

I used the Pinapple Exfoliante one time two nights ago. I was so afraid of telling Chris that I did use it on my face.

I am so happy that she okays it for the face, litely, I loved the smell and I felt so fresh.

I will be using again in a day or so and will report back to you.

Thanks E. Dann

With the pineapple.. you can do this every 3-4 days.. the enzyme will only eat the dead tissue and not scratch or scrape fresh cells..
It is a wonderful product... MADE for Good Care of the facial tissue....

Mitzi,

I don't know what to say....you are starting to use the E. now in my name before you call me Dann... Who knows, sooner or later you are going to fall so much in love with our products you may actually call me Eric someday.. Nah who am I kidding you are still stuck on my two first names..

BY ALL MEANS.... use the pineapple on the face...that is the area on which all of the clincial testing was done. Keeping using it and watch and see the differences in the evenness of your skin tones.

I know you gave tons of info in this thread, but just to be extra sure...is this an everyday use product? It won't cause the "thickening" of skin like some other scrubs will?

There is a whole other thread on this discussing the salt scrubs (which I love, but use less often than I used to after reading some of the threads in this forum).
