Remember: it is important you review this topic in the threads here at Tan Talk before you go have the service done..
There are places that offer the services but are NOT really the places you would WANT to have them done..

We were discussing this morning here at work the salon around the corner who lays peoples necks in the "shampoo bowls" and slops on wax that is sitting out on a table in the shampoo area!!! The wax pot is not in a closed sanitized area.. they lay pre cut wax strip paper in an open container.. with a candy dish right next to it!!!!!! THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS.. Completely UNACCEPTABLE!! and uncalled for..

The waxing applicator (wood stick) should NEVER be reused from one guest to another..
Double dipping the stick into a pot of wax is promoting problems for the guest and the facility...
Understand that just because someone has a license doesn't make them a qualified professional... Do your homework .. Go look and see the place.. talk to the service provider.. have they( the service provider) asked you about medications you are currently injesting? Remember anti-biotics..accutaine..retin-A, differin gel and several other internal and topical medications can and WILL have contra-indications to the waxing ..
YOU MUST be SURE you are in the care of a health care provider along with a beauty maker..
It's your skin your in..

No she actually charged me LESS. At the other place I paid $75, at this place I paid $60 for a far better job.

This thread totally helped me find a good place; taught me what questions to ask and what to look for.

The tech this time around was also an aesthetician and just really had the whole thing down to a science.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww key here is she was an aesthetician..
she charged you less.. because as a board certified aesthetician you are aware of the value... not just the cost.. and you are bound to a code of ethics..
We would place a full leg including bikini at about 75.00.. depending on the size of the leg that is being waxed.

I am glad this topic helped you.. It makes us happy you are happy..

No one in my area offers this type of service. The closest thing is having your brows done before the hair stylist lifts you from the sink after washing your hair.

They would say "an aesthetiwhat?"

Did you ever get a chance to find that information for me concerning Texas and where I could get some edumication on this subject? I think that I could actually be interested in this.

Neon has asked the same question.. Let me check my book and see about your states required course plan.. Remember after you are licensed.. continuing education is very very important in maintaining your license..
Also I encourage you to become Board Certified.. it is not easy .. but it is worth it....

Never EVER stop your schooling in this field.. it is a wonderful rewarding career.. you must have a heart for this.. it is NOT all beauty and funzzz...
You work with people who NEED you.. it is more CARE than people realize...
Yes we wax.. yes we peel..yes we please.. yes we treat yes we make pretty....

but you must SERVE with gladness.. and have your heart in it with each and every single person.. we are like snow flakes.. each is different.. each are tender.. males and females.. each as special..

I LOVE THIS BUSINESS.. and if you think you like it.. I say find the BEST school in your area.. and GO FOR IT..
I will check out your state requirements and get back on this for ya'll..
Love,
C
