I've heard some horror stories about the Epil Stop stuff...stories about people who used it and it burned their skin really badly. So be careful and patch test first!

On the subject of waxing...I've been playing with the idea of having my legs waxed for almost a year now. I tried doing it myself and it did NOT work well at all. How do I know I am getting a "good" place? I am considering going to the local day spa to get it done. My only other choices are places that Don would call "chop stick" salons and frankly, they scare me. If I'm going to call around, how do I find the best place? What questions do I ask?

Ask how long the tech. has been doing waxing.. What method does she use..
What do you need to do before to prepare yourself for the service.
Does she use a topical numbing spray or gel.
Cost??
You can get a good feel how experianced they are by asking questions..
When you go to have the treatment done.. LOOK at the room.. the floor..the counter.. IS IT CLEAN??? Well kept?
Sanitary? Is wax pot well maintained? or drips all over it???
Do they offer you disposable panties??
Is the table well kept? Sanitary?

Do you smell anticeptic? you should a little or a clean smell...
DOES SHE WEAR GLOVES??? THIS IS A MUST!
If you see anything out of your comfort zone.. RUN AWAY!!!!

What is usually a good price range for a good job? Is there anyone who should NOT try a particular method of waxing?

Never have a waxing service if you are on anti-biotics.. Wait till the antibiotics are out of your system..

Do not wax when you are having your menstrual cycle (you are too sensitive during this time).

You should be aware that you may have a bit of rash after the 1st waxing but this will go away in a few hours. ( use a toner after service to calm the skin)..Aloe based is excellent.

Never ever should the same waxing stick be used on another person..
Be sure your tech. is not leaving a stick in the waxing pot and re-using it on different people.

Average cost.
Brows. 8.00-12.00
Brow Arching if needed up to $15.00

underarms $15-$18
Legs 1/2 (to the knee) $35.00-$40.00
Full Leg $55.00-$70.00
Bikini included in full leg..

Bikini $18.00-$25.00 ( depending )

After you wax on a regular basis..you will not pay these prices as the hair will thin out and you will wax less and less so the total time and product use is less..

Okay I decided I'm going to do it! Now that I know what to ask and what to look for...it's not quite as scary. So thanks Chris

I'm going to go to the day spa where I go for massages and do the full leg. Now I just have to be patient enough to let it all grow out (my biggest downfall, I can never wait that long).

MELTY!!!!
WELCOME to adulthood...
We would all love the eternal summer...but for some reason we must have "change" in our lives....

Are you planning on college?
and whats this about a PARTY STORE!!!!
Don't they sell booze in a party store????

I still think you should go to Cosmotology School!!! I think you'd be great in that field!

Welcome home.. I missed you buddy.

You know we don't have anything like that here Funzy, I live in a very small town that is 108 miles SE of one decent sized city and 112 miles NW of another.

Maybe I should look into Cosmotology School and add to my salon. About how long would education and training take in that area Chris? I think that I would probably enjoy doing it regardless of the benefits to my salon.

If you are serious about this pm me.. I am a certified trainer in the United States and Canada for "aestheticians"..
Each state requires different hours of pratical application and apprenticeship..

Please send me what state you are in and I will do my best to help direct you for your best possible training..

This field is wonderful.. it has been good to me I can't think of anything I'd rather do in my life.. EVER..ever... and I continue my education every single year to 80-120 hrs (post training) to keep my license as a certified trainer.( I love it.. I say this honestly)... That is why I question all the time all EDUCATIONAL training in our field and also in the tanning industry..

We in skincare have so much to offer the tanning industry and tanning has so much to offer skincare... as a skincare professionals.. My desire is to get everyone educated in truth.. and thinking right!! No more making it up as we go along...
that is my hearts desire.

PLEASE consider making a donation to Don Smith and his Research.. see Ask Don for more information on his Mission..
