and I know that Chris is the expert on this stuff.

I read somewhere, I think under one of Soakin Greg's threads, that "cheap" lotions--Vaseline Intensive Care, St. Ives, etc-- contain "whitening" agents to help reduce the appearance of aging or something...

Is this true? I have both the Vaseline Intensive Care and the after-tan products (Luminous, Hempz, Body Drench)... I used the Vaseline IC tonight b/c the pump on the Hempz doesn't work and that annoys me, the Luminous is brand new and I'm trying to get rid of the other stuff first, and I hate the smell of the Body Drench. hehehe anyway, I couldn't help but wonder if I was bleaching my tan away.

I am so sorry I have not been here.. This time of year is crazy as it is the end of the school year..

I need to go to the store to get a bottle of the moisturizer Intensive care to read what is in it..
I will sometime today I promise..
Use only the Moisturizers made for tanners to keep your tan..
Other moisturizers have alot of wax in them I know this.. ( send me you address by pming me) I will send you something in the mail I think you'll go crazy over..for total body moisturizing...

I suggest you use the Intensive care on your feet.... This is not a professional product made for tanners.

I'll go read the bottle sometime today and reply..
Send me your address...
Chris

This thread has me worried now.. Now I ahve a question..I normally use Glimra Moisturizing lotion(which I love both the smell and feel of and HIGHLY recommend using)the night right after I just tanned and the next day. however, on days when I workout(which usually aren't tanning days) I use Nivea's skin firming lotion..Also, after I shave I use Jergens Naturally smooth shave minimizing lotions..is this REALLY bad?? I have not seen the thread that was posted by Greg with regards to moisturizers containing skin lighteners or skin bleaching agents, however I can tell you that the lotions that were listed above do not contain bleaching ingredients. (not to fret)

I have seen Greg’s informational posts regarding tools to help explain to tanner’s the difference between off the shelf store bought moisturizers and indoor tanning lotions, and correct me if I am wrong, he pointed out that many products sold as “mainstream-retail” daily moisturizers contain UV absorbers. Using there types of products, while tanning will drastically reduce the effectiveness of the bed.

There are products which are marketed as skin lighteners, and a few evening creams that I have seen the contain ingredients that have been shown to lighten the skin of few of those ingredients are Diacetyl Benzoyl Lathyrol, Hydroquinone (most common), triticum Vulgare (wheat) Germ Extract.

With regards to using a moisturizer after tanning, I would recommend that use a product specifically designed for use by tanner. There are several reasons why you should be using a moisturizer designed for tanners, and not the just low cost store bought emulsions just pretending to be moisturizers.

Can someone explain to me why you would want a moisturizer with skin lighteners? Seems very weird to me.
