thanks for the fabulous picture of ringworm on someone's butt in Say What, along with these in this thread........ I hope that the technology department of my school doesn't monitor my internet surfing too closely. Couldn't you have at least forewarned us? *angry*

When my daughter had this on her face, the dermatologist told her to use the same Lamasil you use for athletes foot, he said it would work better and/or the same as a prescription and is a lot less expensive.

It was gone quickly, and I've since had 2 pharmacist/clients tell me they've known about this form of treatment for a while.

Salacylic acid is found in some of the treatments and is also found in some astringents.

We have also seen an increase of this problem over the years with the use of tingle lotions on the face. One probably has nothing to do with the other however, Don?

The so-called "tingle" lotions are vasodilators and the only possible relationship that I can think of is that perhaps they could irritate the Tinea versicolor infection and make it itch.

I am for freedom of speech.. I do not wish this thread to disappear.. I do how ever wish for open discussion and posting of facts.. or a quote stating "In my opinion" if it is not a proven fact.

We all are aware of skin disorders and this forum is designed as topic discussions.. NOT bashing or railroading as I call it.

I have asked you Chip to be mindful when you post in this forum. I am requesting that you yourself remove the statement in your post "Don you are not being truthful". as I find this offensive and it frankly pees me off you would say this to Don and also Chip please apologize to njchica our resident science teacher who helps us a great deal in this forum.

This forum is created for ALL of us who are in this industry and want to expand our skin care knowledge.
I am a paramedical since 1978, who is continuing to expand my knowledge and care for my patients.

Chippp has posted the same nonsense from the first day he "surfaced" here. Personally, I am not convinced that he IS a tanning salon owner. This forum is too valuable (I come here to learn every day!) to lose and so SOMEONE should help you by "removing" the posts made by him that are counterproductive to your mission (just like I do on "Ask Don").

FYI, regarding whether or not the dermatology community knows that the development of a tan is what makes it possible to "visualize" Tinea versicolor, an article published in the April, 1999 issue of Geriatrics by Norman Levine, MD (of the U of Arizona) says it all.

"White spots enhanced in the summer."

Guess how they were "enhanced" folks?

I believe he looked up "Testicle" rather that Tinea Versicolor.
