Chris,
I constantly break out on my forehead and chin. I take tricyclen for this, but it doesn't elimitate the problem. I've tried salicylic acid. It didn't make much difference. Tanning helps a little bit. JA Blemish treatment doesn't do much. What do you recommend? Is it because I get so hot at work? Thank you!!!

Dear Hot Girl:

Let me first ask you a few questions about your skin before we try an figure out what may help you obtain the clear complexion you so desire.

1st. How much water are you drinking per day. Now remember this is H2o not soda pop, juice, coffee, teas.. ?

2nd. What are you using as hair products? Shampoo, Conditioners, Sprays, Gels?

3rd. What kind of skin do you have? Normal, Oily, Dry or Combination.

4th. Have you battled skin problems as a teenager? Or is this recent as an adult?

5th. What products are you using now to cleanse your skin?

6th. Have you been told by your MD. That you have acne? Or are you saying you have Acne?
Is the outbreak that you have red in color? Leaking? Hard knots under the skin?
Do you have little pimples? Large ones? Are they grouped together in an area? Or are there a few large ones on the forehead and Chin.. Do you have any hard knot pimples on the chest or back?

Are you under the care of an MD right now for anything "female" related?

Let’s take it from here.. Then we shall begin to try to discover what is best for you.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
Chris

Chris,
I drink loads of water. Probably 10 or more glasses a day. Our water jug is right by the counter. I use Straight Sexy Hair Shampoo and Conditioner and a silicone-based straightening product. On my body, my skin is very dry. On my face, I would say that I have combination skin. It sometimes feels tight and dry after I wash it so I use oil-free, non-comedogenic moisturizers. After a few hours my skin feels a little oily in the T-Zone, where I break out. I have small pores and get little whiteheads on my forehead and chin and also the big, painful, under-the-skin cystic-type acne. Thank you so much, Kristina

I had a very bad problem with acne for many years as well. Nothing over the counter helped or even perscription stuff.. Finally, when I was 18, I got on ortho-tricyclen as well as started using clinique acne system. The combination has helped clear my face up completely! I am now 21 and after having acne since I was 12, I finally am oil free.. Here are some tips I have experienced...
Chin acne usually comes from your hands. Try not to rest your hands on your chin too much. Also, how long have you been on ortho? There is usually a break out period that can last up to a year after first starting to take it. I didn't become 100% clear until after about a year of taking it. Also, clinique's acne soap, spot treatment, and nightly cleanser work great, along with their toner and oil free moisturizer work perfectly in fighting the oil, especially on the forehead. It all is a little pricy, but a little goes a long way. Its been a part of my daily cleaning regime(once daily and once at night washing my face with the products) and is definitely something I recommend. They also have a great moisturizer to eliminate completely dryness as well! You also may want to consider to eat more fruits and vegetables and staying away from alot of greasy foods. Also, tanning has helped draw out the oil as well. I hope I gave you enough suggestions..

Dear Hot …. Andrea has given you some good advice here.
Clinique has been around in department stores for many years
Many people have had results from Ortho-Tri-Cyclen.
It usually is prescribed for moderate acne vulgaris in females 15 years of age or older, who have no known reaction to oral contraceptives.
Some precautions to this drug to think about are the following.
Depression may occur, No smoking while taking it ( you could have a stroke), Hypertension may occur..and sever headaches and a change in your weight,.
You should have a complete check up including blood work before taking any oral contraceptives.

It appears by your description that you have mild to moderate nodular acne.
This is at times painful as you have described.

You are drinking plenty of water 10 plus glasses a day is great.
So we know you are flushing out your system.
Try this for one month.
Take 1 200 milligram vitamin E each morning.
Avoid caffeine (if you can).
Wash your face with a mild glycerin soap, fragrance free ( go to the health food store they have several.. Look for one with a Tea Tree oil in it.
Once a week make a baking soda paste with distilled water and in a circular motion lightly wash the face. ( do this process after you have removed all your make-up and your face is clean).
Using a spray bottle, mix ˝ with witch hazel and ˝ with distilled water… this you will use as your toner to douche out your pores. Use the mist on your face AM and PM.
In the evenings use a cotton pad to wipe the skin off with peroxide (soak the cotton pad with the peroxide.. avoid the eyes). Then mist the skin again with your spray.
Wipe the skin off and be sure the cotton pad is not pulling any more dirt or debris.
Continue to use your oil free moisturizer.

Read your hair care product labels and see if you are sensitive to any thing in them.
Some products leave a build up on the hair and can clog the pores.

Keep your hands and nails clean and as Andrea said try not to touch your chin.. and clean off the telephones with alcohol.. Change your pillow cases often through out the week. (remember we sweat at night and release toxins).

Use a Benzoyl Peroxide to treat on the spot out breaks when they surface.
This is strong..so use it only on the spots you have outbreak.

I think this may help you.

Do you want to try this? Let's see what 30 days brings of doing this, ok..

Chris

silicone- will clog pores

try a mild antibacterial liquid hand soap on your face. dont scrub hard or wash your face with anything that strips or drys the skin this will cause your skin to pump more oil.

dont wash your face more then once or twice in 24 hours.

It may sound odd...but
this worked for me! If i use regular soap i break out. If i go back to normal soap or face cleansers i break out again.
I have oily senstive skin on my face, but that fixed .

try it you have nothing to loose.

I have been using Neutrogena's-liquid neutrogena, and it works very well for me. It is nice and light, and cleanses very well.

I also have been using Clean and Clear's Continous Control Daily cleanser, with benzoil peroxide...It also has been working very well for me.

At night, I use Neutrogena's Multi Vitamin acne treatment, and it has vitamins A, E, and B5, and salicylic acid in at at 1.5%.
*Chris, does this stuff MOISTURIZE at all, since the vitamins are in it???*

the bottle says to use during the day, but I cant bother with putting it on my face in the morning, and I also would NOT want my face to burn, while tanning!!!, so I put it on at night time.

Meltabutter..
The products you are using are moisturizing..
I understand about the time factor..but try to keep yiur face moisturized..especialy if you are using an acne treatment product..
Maybe consider using an SPF on yor face so it won't get pink when you are tanning.

Chris, the last sentence that you quoted me on, when I was talking about my face burning, I meant that I would NOT want my face to burn, while tanning, if the Multi vitamin acne treatment was on my faqce during the day..., so I use it at nighttime...

I also would like to know, what would the vitamin E taken internally, do for your skin???

Should I start using it???
Would it be a good idea to combine Vitamin E and C, and start using them for the summer months???
thanks
