Exfoliation is an important step in tanning and skin care. JA has the Exfoliating Salt glow and the JA Face Polisher. The Salt scrub uses salt from the Dead Sea. Many scrubs use different types of salt from Epson to Mortons, however JA feels that the Dead Sea salt provides the most benefits to the skin. In addition, the Salt scrub uses Avocado Oils, Macadamia Nut Oils, Sesame Seed oil with a blend of fragrant essential oils.
The Face Polisher uses Apricot Seeds and Walnut Shell to GENTLY exfoliate the face. The face is a very sensitive area and should be taken care of in a gentle manner. JA Face Polisher uses a natural Grapefruit fragrance along with moisturizes with Shea Butter and beneficial botanical extracts to leave the face soft and smooth. |

I agree that both the Salt Glow and Face Polisher from JA are awesome products. They have wonderful scents and leave my skin in great condition. I too used to be scared of exfoiliating but I have since become a huge fan. It really does make your skin so much softer and for me, I tan even better now. Great points made here and cheers to JA for two of many great products.

Chris...
What would you suggest to use for exfoliating my face... Im an 18 year old, and still have a lil problem with...u know, zits... I see that skin care line Dermalogica, has a nice looking exfoliator, the gentle cream exfoliant, "Ten minutes will leave you with dramatically-improved skin smoothness. A three-part complex of Lactic Acid, Salicylic Acid and fruit enzymes detach dead skin debris and promote cell renewal for a more supple complexion. All skin conditions except users of medically- prescribed exfoliating products." Would this be a good product? I have used dermalogica products in the past, and I believe they are very good. Also, how often should I exfoliate my face? Thanks alot... ~meltdbutta~ |

I have to tell this story right quick, since Frank mentioned Epson salt.
Today one of my long time, but sporatic, customers came in and during our conversation she told how much she loved the JA SaltGlow. She purchased it a little while back. Well she told her daughter (9) what it is and for her not to use it. Low and behold, her daughter did not use her Salt Glow, but instead decided to make up her own.... My client walked in the bathroom while her daughter is taking a bath. She has a box of Epson salt and bottle of baby oil with a little jar. She made her own salt glow since mommy said she couldn't use hers.... LOL Now my question is: What will this Epson salt do to the childs skin? Or for that matter anyone's skin? |

Mitzi.. Epsom Salt will not harm the child..
Some Doctors will perscribe an Epsom Salt Bath for children who have allergic reactions that effect their skin in private areas. Don't be concerned, but advise the mommy to buy her darling her own Salt Scrub.. Meltabutter.. I don't want to tell you what to use as a facial exfoliant because I have not seen your skin or worked on you. I have stated before I do not use scrubs or polishes on my face personaly. I use a glycolic wash once a month at 30% for 2.5 minutes and every 6 weeks I have salt based microdermabrasion done here at the studio, by one of the parimedicals. This is the way I perfer to exfoliate my facial tissue. I was very impressed to hear JA uses Dead Sea Salt in their products.. Dead Sea Salt is very expensive, and very effective... This shows QUALITY.. OK.. you talked me into it.. I'll try a jar.. |

We offer a separate line of skin nurturing salt scrubs at the salon. Ours also contain Dead Sea Salts as well. I am careful to tell clients that if they use an exfoliant purchased from somewhere else to make sure to stay away from ones that contain harsh granules made from apricots or peaches. They can be harmful to a tanners skin. They can actually be too abrasive and cause fine tears and abrasions. Salts scrubs are preferrable because they are more gentle and usually contain essential oils.
