Rep Power: 0 | Peeled off a suntan. Big mistake. Advice? I realize this is more of a forum for people in the tanning business..but I couldn't seem to find a better place to ask for advice. Hopefully someone can help. Disclaimer: I'm an idiot. I was badly sunburned last weekend (5.5 hours, mid-day Texas sun, UV index of 10, no lotion, bald head, no hat, in a pool, no shade..). I know it was dumb, and I've definitely learned my lesson. The most severe was on my back and shoulders (blistering). My head was already pretty tan, so it didn't really turn red.. but it did burn. Yesterday my forehead started to get kind of leathery looking and I knew it was going to peel. This morning, it was all cracked and skin was just sitting there saying "pick at me". And, against my better judgment, I did. And now I have 2 large (LARGE) patches on my forehead that are pure white from the fresh skin, completely surrounded by a very dark tan. It looks absolutely terrible and is extremely noticeable. About half my forehead is peeled off. It's pretty embarrassing, especially at work. Is there ANYTHING I can do to hide it (or at least partially tone down the contrast a bit) as I wait for it to start blending in naturally? Some kind of liquid tan creme? Exfoliating pad or something to lighten up the rest of my tan? Spray tan ? Anything at all? If not, any clue at all how long this is going to take to start blending in? Thanks in advance. |

You could use a body wash exfoliator like St. Ives Apricot scrub available at any drug store and then apply small amounts of sunless lotion that you purchase from a salon (like Mystic or Norvell, as you want higher quality to blend naturally and not be orange based). I would apply it in very small increments with a Q-tip for better control, then you can layer it on to the appropriate darkness to gradually blend it until it naturally evens out. HTH

Much, much less noticeable now. I have a shaved head so it's hard to hide the sharp difference in color, but even my very short hair helps blend it in. |
