Rep Power: 23 | Re: More Catholic crooks I am a Christian as you know by now. I don't like religion, or religious people. I don't like legalistic churches or churches that tell members that God wants them to be rich and they have to give to the church to get back from God. That is not what believing in the words of Christ is all about. The big problem for believers and non-believers for that matter is God gave man 'free will' and that is where all the greatest dialogues on morals, ethics, laws, sin, sex, drugs and rock and roll emanate. Everyone believer or non has the choice to do what they feel is best for them. So, God is for freedom of choice. Does He hate abortion? Yes. Did He give the young lady who chose to terminate her pregnancy as a form of birth control freedom to make that choice? Yes. I don't give money to my church. I give my time and I find people in the community that need help and my church gives them the help they need. I had a pastor once who lives in a 500K house and high off the hog. He couldn't be bothered by problems members had, unless they were wealthy members. Choice allowed me to tell him off and leave his little enterprise. My present pastor of the past 10 years would drive 100 miles at 3 in the morning if I called him stranded somewhere or needed mental, or spiritual help. He doesn't ask for money, he asks for us to help one another. So, when it is time to make the mortgage payment on the church building or pay for the renovations to the deaf woman's house after her husband left her in a falling down home, there are those who give their time and expertise to fix it and those who give their money, because they can't give their time. This isn't meant to be pleasantry or pollyanna, simply the fact that there are those in any walk of life and any belief system that chose to do for themselves rather than others. Be thankful you weren't born in a country that demands you believe the state religion and strictly follow the fundamental tenents of its faith to the exclusion of free will under penalty of death. Where they do execute adulterers on the soccer fields during the half-time. I love you guys and enjoy all of the insights to your personalities by reading between the lines of your posts. May you be blessed by whatever you chose to follow in your lives.
