Rep Power: 25 | Skiing in Salt Lake City Utah area Looking for any recommendations! Going to SLC for a few days soon (next two-three weeks), would like to get in a few days of skiing while I'm there - first time to the area. Criteria (not sure of the order): 1. I'd rather a great snow/laid back place than "the place to see and be seen". I'm not a matching gear/hang out in the chalet sipping highbrow wines type gal. I just want to get out, see some country, get some exercise! 2. I'd rather less expensive than more expensive 3. I'd rather a place that can accommodate all levels -- I'm not a black diamond, ski-between-trees-and-rocks skill (or risk taker) type skier! If anyone has any recommendations I'd love to hear them! |

Rep Power: 30 | Re: Skiing in Salt Lake City Utah area Utah has some of the best skiing available next to Montana IMO. Park City is more tourist oriented, Deer Valley is very nice and the place to see and be seen but Alta & Snow Bird are the places that always brought me back to Utah. The snow is hard to beat in the canyon where these two are located. It's also where most of the locals flock to. Deer Valley & Park City are only about a 45 minute drive or so from Alta & Snowbird so where ever you stay you can easily ski at any of the resorts. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Skiing in Salt Lake City Utah area Absolutely, Positively SOLITUDE and BRIGHTON!! Snowbird and Alta always have great snow. They are in "little cottonwood canyon", about 5 miles away is "big cottonwood canyon"...home of Solitude and Brighton.....Beautiful resorts, not at all tourist oriented, always great snow and as affordable as anyplace in Utah. Just my 2 cents, in Utah I have skied Canyons, Park City, Deer Valley, Snowbasin, Alta, Snowbird....Solitude and Brighton are my favorites. |

Rep Power: 25 | Re: Skiing in Salt Lake City Utah area EXACTLY the kind of information I'm looking for - thanks everyone! Now to hope for snow! Most of the slopes aren't open yet, but are trying by Thanksgiving. Hopefully they'll get a great dump right as I pull in town.......... Any thoughts on places to stay, good places to eat,...? |
