It appears to this observer (and long-time supporter of this website) that the "censorship nannies" have taken control.

- Unity is telling everyone how to behave-or else.

- Navi closed a thread because he/she/it doesn't agree with what EZ Jim says about President-elect Obama (he has the right to his opinion) and, rather than enter into an open discussion of the issues, censorship was used to unilaterally end the discussion.

IF there are still some adults moderating this website, please step in and correct this nonsense or--speaking for myself--I will find another website to support.

No more political debates, thats all. If you wish to discus political issues not DIRECTLY affecting the tanning industry, then by all means you can discuss those issues elsewhere as there are forums all over open to that.

Don, the political crap has come to an end. No more, unless it has to do with the tanning industry. Those threads have put a damper on spirts and cause people that got along before, to, no longer.

What a bunch of commie BS. You spent the last three months or more bashing McCain and Palin NON-STOP, and now once your guy is elected, suddenly no one is allowed to say anything about him?

Be warned, people: this is what happens when you put the leftist thought police in charge. They will tell you what is ok to think and say.

Watch this: two of the first items on the agenda of the left will be to
(1) do away with the so-called 'fairness doctrine', in the attempts to silence the conservative talk shows, and (2) so away with the secret ballot in union elections, so that union bosses can bully members into voting their way, with fear of reprisals if they don't. Even George McGovern did a TV commercial saying how wrong this is.

Who put "Unity" in charge of what is acceptable to discuss and what isn't?

Just one small indication of what you should all expect from the left the next few years.

No one that I know of. In fact I do the least amount of thread trimming in the say what forum. The person with the most is Eileen and she does a good job of it!

Or you can go to TanInThePast and get banned for having an opinion at all if they don't like you. Say What has always been a place where censorship was ignored. The political climate evidently did not unite everyone as promised.

So I guess it is better to quash opinions in SAy WHat sort of as a prelude to the cencorship that will take place in other forums where someone might get their emotions up about a tanning related subject?

The Political Crap as you call it has only just begun. Better make sure your salon gross stays under $250K or you will be taxed out of business. Heavens we don't want to dampen anyone's spirits do we?

Censor these posts, that industry professionals with a common interest share; disagreeable or not, and this site and others that do the same limit our freedom of speech and expression. If you can't SAY WHAT? in Say What then take the topic off the board and establish new rules that limit what you can say and where you can say it and who can control it!

Part of the problem Tan Talker is that some people actually think of forums as a public place where true freedom of speech applies.

This is a privately owned forum. And of all the forums I mod in, this has the most lax rules of them all! Believe me, in other forums anyone starting a thread like this would have been banned without warning. Imagine someone walking into black church and posting all sorts of KKK and Nazi propaganda all over. No physical damage mind you, but non the less disruptive and against what that facility represents. In short the forum of that church is not setup to discuss such hatred.

The point is that if anyone actually thinks there freedom of speech is being taken away by an internet forum they really need to get a new perspective on life or maybe spend less time on the web.

Stop whining about our whining and do something about it! Shut down any area that allows any other topic but tanning! Take away the right of the posters here to have any other opinion but yours. Do that if you have the Power.

Otherwise take some time off the computer and read the Constitution and a few history books to see how they did things before there were Democrats and Republicans and before there was a Constitution. (and we were a country for over 10 years before the Constitution was written to find a way for the Federalist to take control from the states.
