Obama is having trouble walking back some dumb statements he made during the primaries. Now he has to parse his own statements with the help of his hundreds of foreign policy advisors and rationalize the "Obama Doctrine" of talking to anyone that finds his phone number.

Obama never said presidential level, but IF he was president HE could choose to do so. But never said Kissinger said presidential level, McCain kept saying he said that.

Wrong. Obama said HE would meet (as president) with Iran with no pre-conditions. No mention of ambassadors, sec of state, etc. Kissinger set the record straight 30 minutes after the debate.

Better yet.... a democrat spokesperson on Fox (Bob Beckel) just now said that the correct pre-condition should be: If you choose to wipe Israel off the face of the map... Iran will cease to exist." Way to go Bob.

Is that not what I said? You missing the point. All Obama said was to meet with no pre-conditions. THAT is what its about. He never said Kissinger said at a presidential level. McCain is the one who implied a presidential level of meeting at which point Obama said that is not what he meant.

Pretty simple. Kissinger said no preconditions. Obama was right, McCain wrong.

NO dammmit... Obama said HE would do the meetings - not in the recent debate - but back when he actually was taped saying it. You've not seen it? Then you are still watching the wrong TV channels and the wrong internet portals.

Yes Obama said he would do the meetings. Thats exactly what I have been saying.

What Obama said at the debate however was that KISSINGER said NO PRECONDITIONS. That is what this thread is about. Obama NEVER said that Kissinger said presidential level!

As posted, Kissinger DID say no preconditions.

So what is it we are not agreeing on?

Everybody has tried to "clarify" their remarks on this subject so much I'm losing track of who said what or meant what when.

All I know is Kissinger did not MEAN the President should do unconditional meetings - which is what Nobama said. The quotes are all being taken out of context by hacks now. So FAKEM all.

Your very right. I think where the lines got crossed is someone maybe said that Obama said Kissinger said on a presidential level. lol
