Many of these feel-good-about- yourself democrats will be voting independent by the time they reach the voting booth. I don't think either party is good for us, the small business owners. The republicans like big business and the democrats want to give the store away. Their health insurance plan for providing insurance for every man, women, and child, will bankrupt everyone of us. If Tim Russert was still with us, I'd write him in. Now, there was a man. Last edited by parrot head; 06-19-2008 at 09:31 AM. Reason: add |

Rep Power: 17 | Re: Let's argue politics ... Pick your poison,it should not be that way but we live in a society thats driven by the almighty dollar.Money can buy anything in this country look at the funds these candidate have raised, campaign contributions are no more than legal bribes and kickbacks if you honestly think about it. Lobbyist, activist groups and the rich are buying favors from these candidates so to speak. If you contribute money to elect a person who will favor your opinions, ideals or wealth is nothing more than a cash bribe. These types of "bribes" are legal? But if i bribe a tanning inspector, both him and I would be behind bars. Bottom line, politicians are only out for themselves. If you honestly believe they are working for a better America, you can crap in one hand and wish in the other.See which one fills up first. |

Rep Power: 22 | Re: Let's argue politics ... While I mostly agree with that. I will add that Obama has turned down about $80 million in campaign funding today. Funding provided by those who check that little box on taxes for "contribute $3 to the election fund". He also does not take money from active lobbyists. There are plenty of stories about checks being returned, even small $100 ones. Could it all be a face he wants to out on to just look better? Probably, but he also raised more money than any other candidate in history and that says a lot when you account where is came from.

Rep Power: 23 | Re: Let's argue politics ... This is SO simple to understand it blows my mind how anybody can still be "making their mind up" how to vote. 1. If you vote independent it's like a hanging chad... worthless. Independents cannot win - and your "message" won't matter in the long run. A vote for a conservative or libertarian(sp) takes away from McCain. A vote for a liberal greenspeace or commie takes away from Obama. 2. Obama vote: In addition to what TanFixer said above... a vote for Obama means you cannot now (or you think so about the future) make it on your own initiative. You want or need government "help" with stuff people normally buy and/or do on their own. 3. McCain vote: You want/need to keep more of what you earn instead of allowing it to be redistributed to others. Period. Assuming they both "want" to protect our country from terror stuff... then call that a draw (even tho one is a dove and one is a hawk). Assuming they both "want" to improve our economy... then call that a draw (even tho liberals prefer gov't control vs private control). Here's the BIG deal - however. IF you want the 50% of us paying 90%+ of income taxes to keep helping along the freeloaders (a 40-year failed policy) - then vote Obama... the "cool" guy. The lower 50% of us then WIN. But IF you want the 50% of us paying the way and making the country work to sustain the rewards of our hard work... then vote McCain... the "old" guy. The upper 50% of us then WIN. Which 50% of us YOU are in will determine who wins. Simple. Easy as pie. Producer or Parasite. Take your pick. Note: Both France and Germany - after way too much liberalism... are just now reversing their politics. Do we have to fail before we can come back to success? It kinda looks that way based on the current pols. Don't bother replying that we are ALREADY failing after 8 years of GW (Eggs buddy haha). Whoever was president - especially AlGore - could not have prevented the current cyclical downturn. Housing (and now oil) bubbles did that. Both were enabled by liberals: "give the poor folks mortgages they can't afford" and "don't drill for oil anywhere an animal or fish lives". Also - "don't build refineries and nuclear plants". Total CRAP. THINK before you make your voting mind up - especially as a small business owner with decent profit and/or dreams of good profit. |
