We need something to talk about

This is our fifth year and first year of sales less than last year. The good news is tanning number down 12% but sales are down less than 2%. Of course Wonder Woman refused to raise prices for a third year?????, but then complained like heck when the Mall raised rent 10%, and electric went up 10%, and so on and so forth. ya you sure you betch ya this is how you talk Minnesota, PatParadise, (IMWW)

Same scenario here. Tanning is down but lotion sales are way up. We are selling may bottles that are $30 to $35+ this year - which is odd. The cheap stuff is barely moving at all.

Saturday we tanned 96 people, and did not get out of the store for almost an hour past the closing time. I hope that this year we can hold our own and stay close to even. The economy does not look that good. This is definitely going to be a tough year, PatParadise

Does that mean you consider $30-$35 lotions expensive?

My cheapest lotion on my shelf is sold at $45 and that's 2 options, bronzer or no bronzer.

All my other lotions range from $75-$150/bottle.

My cheap lotions don't sell.

I have the 6oz bottles for my cheap lotions....the reason they don't sell is because they can get 6oz bottle for $45 or they can get a 10-12oz bottle for $80-$95. so it'll be basically the same price for the same amount of lotion....BUT...you get a much better lotion on the higher end products.

They always buy the more expensive lotions

Even the High School Kids.

I mean would you rather get a silicone emulsion, anti aging, aloe based, skin firming, stronger accelerators and better bronzers.....or would you rather get a regular tanning lotion, for the same price.

Never fails.

Lotion prices range from $15 $75 at our tanning salon and we still sold close to $13,000 last year. Sample packets are priced from $2.00 - $8.00. We would not sell much lotion at the prices you suggest, PatParadise, (IMWW)

Pat, I thought the same thing but guess what I was wrong. For the first time we brought in the DC Mon Ame and With Love. Mon Ame $109.98 and With Love $119.98 we sold out of it twice. I am going to put in another order on Monday. We can't think we can't sell those types of lotion You Can SELL it.

Oh well sales today were $460 and we tanned 78 sessions. We will see 100+ 130+ a day for the rest of March and into mid April. We see customers slowly buying more expensive packages and then not needing to tan as often. In 2004 we sold way too many wolff bed packages and had tanning numbers 150 plus and did not make any money. However, I do think sales are going to be down a little this year. Hey when the big retailers struggle staying close to even is good. Next year with a new president maybe things will get better, PatParadise, (IMWW)
