Rep Power: 21 | Re: We need something to talk about I love it when people say maybe the new President will make it better. If you have ever studied economics, you will learn that there is a natural ebb and flow to the economy. The average boom lasts from 4 to 6 years and the average down turn lasts 18 to 36 months. Now the government can make the down turn a little worst or a little better but the economy is going to stay in it's natural cycle. I laugh when I see Hillary's commercials where she knows what to do to get us out of this down turn. If she knows what to do, then why didn't she do it when we were in a down turn the last year and a half of Bill's term of office.

The majority of the money spent on the war is with American companies and it goes right back into the economy, where the oil money and the money we send to China leaves this economy. I don't have a problem if you don't like the war, to each his own, but the war is not the major factor the economy is down.

Rep Power: 20 | Re: We need something to talk about As a life long Democrat I respect deeply people who are republican. Heck most my friends are republican. However I am just baffled why republicans are unwilling to change previous laws and policies of democrats. I work in building construction where I make a real living. The University of Minnesota renovated the 1926 Mechanical Engineering Building and spent tens of millions of dollars. The renovated building consumes 4 times more electric and heat as the original unmodified building. However, not one elected official has even suggested having public hearings on why this occurred. It is amazing to pay energy experts to analyze proposed buildings and not even have these experts question why there is 40,000 square feet of atrium in our new office building that will cost 100,000 a year to heat and cool when the space serves other purpose that to get publicity for the designer. I have seen energy consultants paid 100,000 of dollars not even comment that we are making a building taller on purpose to avoid reducing the window glass size to meet energy codes. Yah! people this is how your tax money is spent, and every time I attempt to notify even a republican legislator I get my hands slapped and hard. We are at a point where we really need to understand where are tax dollars are spent and why, PatParadise |

Rep Power: 17 | Re: We need something to talk about The economy is never going to get any better, regardless of the war in the middle east, but the money we are wasting over there could be used to build a stronger USA,rather than build up a useless desert landscape. No president can solve our economic problems. There is a country called CHINA and no matter what provisions we make,we will never be the economic power we once were.Americas time has past. The U.S is a free market and as long as we are allowed to deal with countries like China, our U.S dollar will continue to weaken. So If your waiting for some miracle to save you and your businesses, you can Sh*t in one hand and wish in the other, see which one fills up first. So far this year,we are up 19% in Jan and 23% in Feb.We are also the cheapest salon in town.Which probably means other salons have lost a chunk of there business to us.With any luck, some of them won't be around next year.In this day and age,you need to get with it or get out of business. Quit waiting for someone to save you and save yourselves! |
