MRSA
My kids where sent home with a letter today that a child in the school is being treated for MRSA. I am kinda...freakin out. They got home late because the school had to get all the kids the letters tonight before they went home. The kids got home at 4 the office closes at 4 and not answering the phones obviously. Now Im left wondering what the school is going to do as far as cleaning goes before I even consider sending them back.
Blech!!! Im just curious how many of you would send your child to school tomorrow? I know this is off topic. |

Re: MRSA
first ill admit i have no idea what mrsa stands for, but i would keep my kids home for a few extra days after any school closing...now im going to search msra on google
found it Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), also known as oxacillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (ORSA), multiple-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, CA-MRSA (community-acquired MRSA) and HA-MRSA (hospital-acquired MRSA),[1] is a biological agent responsible for difficult-to-treat infections in humans. (MSSA is Methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus.) MRSA is a variation of Staphylococcus aureus, a common bacterium, which has evolved the ability to survive treatment with beta-lactam antibiotics, including penicillin and methicillin.[2] The organism is especially troublesome in hospital-acquired (nosocomial) infections. In hospitals, patients may be found who have open wounds and weakened immune systems and who are therefore at great risk for infection. Hospital staff who do not follow proper sanitary procedures may inadvertently transfer bacterial colonies from patient to patient. MRSA was discovered in 1961 in the UK, but it is now found worldwide. MRSA is popularly termed (in the press) a superbug, or staph infection connection.

Re: MRSA
It seems to be all over the news lately. A boy down south died from it recently. They closed down 21 schools down there. My kids school isnt closing...Id rather them close it for a day to clean. Then maybe Id feel better about sending them.

This is also a real concern at any salon as well. I am, over the top, OCD with staff and the "cleanliness" factor. I just sent out a memo to them about this very issue. Hygiene in the salon needs to be a SUPER priority always, but NOW especially. Wipe down everything -- every time a tanner exits, not just the bed -- floor, chairs, door handles - douse it and keep your bathrooms bacteria free -- gotta LOVE Bleach and Alcohol. Has anyone tried the Clorox anywhere surface? I love this product. ![]()

Re: MRSA
I am a total germophobe to begin with so this is just one more thing for me to worry about. The school does not seem to be unsanitary. Everytime Ive been there its been spic and span. I went to the bus stop to see if anyone would be missing but they were all there. I put the kids on the bus. Now Im going to be paranoid all day. I mean realisticly anyone could get this anywhere. One of my kids is just one that has to touch everything. I felt like wrapping them in bubble wrap this morning.

Re: MRSA
All kids touch everything and put everything in their mouths. We can clean, clean and clean some more but quite frankly it all boils down to good hygeine, good handwashing and teaching our kids to keep their fingers out of their nose, eyes and mouths. And until everyone stops abusing antibiotics we are going to continue to see these things.

Re: MRSA
ANything to get these people to do some actual cleaning is good. Probably places that haven't been touched in 20years.
