Blue Angels jet crashes during air show

A jet flying in formation with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels precision flying team crashed Saturday during an air show near Beaufort, South Carolina, authorities said. It is unknown if there are any casualties. Witness Gerald Popp said, "I saw him go down lower than the trees, and next I saw a big black, cloud of smoke."

I am looking for any more info on this...can someone tell me the plane number? Two of the team members flew through our town and we showed them around. One of the members then sent us a great promo packet, and we even got a family Christmas card from one of them.

I can't believe this, but it looks like it was #6, our friend. Our prayers are with his family & team members.

It seems one is dead. The squadron leader circled the crash site until emergency vehicles arrived, so it wasn't him. The others landed safely, but there is no word yet as to which one crashed.

Very sad. They sometimes do a show near us, and we always go see, very cool thing they do. Such a tragic accident.

We looked into this further and it seems the team rotates positions and the two pilots that came through our small island in Southeast Alaska, on the day of my daughters birthday, and were so awesome, were not involved. It still breaks our hearts, they are still defenders of our country, men that I highly respect, and our prayers are with each of them and their families.

These air show crashes are becoming epidemic. We have now been without power for 2 hours due to a plane that crashed while getting ready for the air show at MCAS Cherry Point this weekend.
