not true, if you have a canadain criminal record, however small, you can be pulled up on th pc when your are crossing, and given the "white glove" search. If the Yanks (love ya all) dont want ya, they wont take ya. Brother in law charged 20 yrs ago with a ....mild possesion charge" still worries when we try to cross for a Buffallo bills game, sometime they let him, sometimes they dont.

If you are just crossing by car with driver's licence as your ID you might get by and go right thru but if you show a passport you are done! Cant get in the States or in Canada.

drivers license shows you have a permit to drive in canada, doesnt prove you are a citizen, was told by customs when we were trying to cross windsor to gamble in detroit

WOW CRAZY! But what I don't understand is why the president of the company wasn't aware of his employees criminal records!!

He was aware because I think almost every employee out there has a criminal record but he was not aware that you cannot cross borders in US and in Canada if you have a criminal record. He was under the impression that a misdemeanor wouldn't matter but when you have a criminal record the only thing that shows up at the custom is that you have a criminal record and not what you did to get it.

I dont have a criminal record but I have dual citizenship and sure enough everytime I cross the border back and forth I get the third degree because THEY KNOW EVERYTHING!

Just for future ref....not a biggie! Urbana is across the state line in Illinois! No big airport!
