For the last couple of weeks I had to organize for 5 of our Americans employees from our Head Office in the States to come and work in Canada on a special project. The president of the company ask me to do it to make sure everything would be in order so I did it. Yesterday the 5 guys show up at the border with their tools and are not able to cross the border. They call the boss who calls me mad as ****. I answer my phone and he says : Talk to me. I say : what about. He says : Weren't you suppose to take care of everything for the crew to go to work in Canada. I said yes. Then he says : Well you did a lousy job!!!! And he tells me the guys are sitting at the border and the custom officer wont let them in. So I call the custom to find out that all the paperwork is in order but the 5 guys have criminal records so they cant get in. I call back the president and told him why they cant get in and then he says: Well you should have told us that they would not be able to cross the border!!!!! We are talking about the president of a huge company doing business all over the world who doesn't know that you cannot enter Canada or the USA if you have a criminal record. I came to an inch to tell him off. So for those of you planning to cross at either the Canadian or the American borders if you have a criminal record (even something as small as driving under the influence) you cannot cross the border either way. You can try and get by if you are driving and not showing a passport but if you have a passport you are done! Thanks for you patience, now I feel better and hey now you all know the law! |
