Rep Power: 0 | Tanning bed vs the sun can you help? anybody know what equals what as far as tanning beds versus the sun? One of our customers wants to know what the equivalence of sunlight she is getting in a 20 minute bed....thanks! |

Here is what I like to state to them: It really isn't possible to compare the exposures becuase there are so many variables outside like: time of day, pollution levels, cloud covers, time of year, etc, which all will have an affect on the amount of UV exposure you actually receive. With indoor tanning, we have known outputs of the lamps and a consistent exposure method. Hope this helps someone. Good luck. -Belvy

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Tanning bed vs the sun Thanks Belvy, that helps a lot. She's a little old lady (probably 75) who loves her tanning beds. She doesn't want to spend a whole day in the sun and was just curious as to how much time she was saving by using the beds. |

Rep Power: 68 | Re: Tanning bed vs the sun Another piece of advice I give to my customers is for them to try to avoid being outside for more than an hour between 11am and 2pm during the summer when the sun is at it's most intense. But if they can't or don't want to avoid it, use a "good" sunscreen product and wear protective clothing (sleeves and pants) if possible. Oh yeah, and slather on the Skin System or Hempz at the end of the day. Good luck. -belvy
