CUSOMERS AND URBAN LEDGENDS - tanTALK

I just had my first customer come in and tell me about that old urban ledgend about the bride that burnt herself up from the inside out because of salon hopping 5 times in the same day right before her wedding. Normally, I tell them that's not true and it's impossible to do that. But this guy had me practically hysterical they way he was telling me this story. He said he told his buddy that was opening up a salon in a few weeks that he needs to make sure and not let ANYONE tan more than once a day or they WILL die from it! Just like that little bride. he said..."i know it happened. It was a friend of mine's friend of a friend!" I swear to god it took all the strength I had not to just bend over laughing in front of this guy. Something about this job makes my laugh everyday! I love my job!

There was a 'Myth Busters' tv show on that recently where they debunked the legend. The legend says that the 'microwaves' from the bed did the burning from the inside out. On the show they put a couple of chickens (ready for cooking) in a tanning bed and ran it 5 cycles, cut open the meat, and showed that it was not cooking. So the worst you can get in that situation is a really bad burn, and not death x2. Obviously there are no microwave in a tanning bed.

Puts to rest the saying the ignorance is bliss....

You should show that guy the same test as done on Myth Buster except, get a roasted chicken too and when he's not looking swap them out. Then ask him if he'd like you to cook some biscuits and gravy while you cook the peach cobbler.

Yeah i saw that one...they had goggles on the chickens. that was pretty funny

That's what I'm saying. I did have to look away a few times because I couldn't hold a straight face. And being from Oklahoma and having a thick accent, I was almost about to pee my pants.
