Rep Power: 0 | In deep doo-doo Ok, long story short: my salon opens this Monday and so far no major problems have occured with our up coming grand opening. *crosses fingers* But, I get this call today from my travel agent inquiring on when I plan to pay my remaining balance for the cruise I'd booked in July with my best friend (we are supposed to set sail Jan 2). I told my friend and my travel agent that I was backing out 2 months ago (early enough to get ALL my money back) because my husband and I were opening a tanning salon (we also own a gym and co-own a hair salon) and we wanted to get settled before busy season. My friend was upset, but said she understood. The travel agent I guess had wax in her ears when I informed her because now I owe another $500 remaining balance. I already paid $1000 and have yet to see my refund inspite of tons of calls to the agency inquiring where my money was and reminded them I'd cancelled my trip in September. Anyway, the agent tells me that she has no record of my cancellation and that if I cancel now I'll lose $1000. I know everyone is thinking why did you book a cruise when you're about to open another business-are you insane??? I booked the cruise when our original grand opening was tentatively set for Dec '06; but due to some greatly appreciated financial assistance we were able to open a year early. OK, question is: what should I do? I took all the precautions necessary to cancel my booking on time and still get a full refund-yet got screwed. Now, if I don't go I'll lose $1000; and if I do go my business could suffer. My husband knows a little about tanning, but he handles the gym mainly. I'm going to run the salon. I wonder if I should sell my tickets to a friend??? My other friend cancelled her reservation too-apparently she knows something I don't she got refunded. So, now I have this cabin on a cruise ship that I cannot use but am out major $$$$ if I don't go. HELP!!!!!!!!!!! |

I'll bet if you read the cancelation policy it probably states - in writing. If this is the case, try selling your tickets and perhaps ask your friend if she knows anyone who would buy them. Maybe offer a $100 off. |
