Gorgeous! Are you planning to have it mounted?

I can respect the opinions of others regarding hunting as a sport, but there really is a lot of talent involved. One has to find the perfect hunting spot, which requires tracking and weeks of preparation before the season starts. Additionally, a lot of the time deer will walk right by you and you'll never see them. A solid hunter has to know what to look for both before hunting and while hunting, and also has to know where to aim in order to take down a prize deer with minimial suffering and minimal damage to the animal. Not to mention the skill required to actually hit the spot he's aiming at.

Hunting has been a major factor in my family for many years. And while my guys only hunt for sport, none of the meat is ever wasted. We have several poor families who take the meat from every deer we kill and are thankful to have meat for their families.

It is extremely challanging for sure. Success rate for getting a Bull with a bow on public land is like once in 11 years here. Sport? I don't know and don't really care. It takes alot of skill and practice just like a sport and the opportunity and experience is awesome. People who think it is easy are just crazy.

You are right sol sister. There are a few people who don't want to take responsibility for killing what they eat. It sounds like you have thought out your opinion unlike some others.

Thanks for the "nice rack" comment.

Thank you Athens,

Not a traditional mount. I will do a European mount (bleached skull and rack) for the garage. Someday if I get a monster I may but those things are floor to ceiling.

Yeah! That's what Hungry Hunter is for. They kill it and silly me eats it. Not that I eat meat or anything. Think of Bambi for the love of god.

to all the hunting haters, I say this, if you don't like spinach, move on down the isle, ie: if you don't like it, don't look and don't dwell. That's how wars start. Be idealistic somewhere else and go eat some tofu.

Think of Bambi? I am thinking of Bambi. Bambi turns into a bigger deer and breeds. I live in GA - where the car insurance rates are some of the highest in the country - simply because you're almost guaranteed to hit a deer once every couple of years. The deer population is so out of control here that they allow hunters to kill 12 a year and encourage them to do so. They also passed a law stating that processing companies cannot report hunters for going over the 12 deer limit. So the only way you can get caught is by game wardens. They even introduced coyote to the area in an attempt to control the deer population and try to protect our crops (failed, by the way...the coyotes eat the livestock instead - easier to catch). We need more hunters!

Okay I'm on board, I can't fight it. I lived in the burbs all my life. I never had the opportunity to shoot a gun or bow and arrow. I only got to fish! I apologize for my ignorance. I am sorry. Congrats on the GREAT CATCH. But for the love of God do you have to put it in the house?
