My birthday is Dec 29th, so yes, I never had a seperate birthday growing up...It was kinda thrown into the Christmas season in a way...Now that I am older, since I don't get gifts from my parents like that anymore, my birthday is recognized.... It was hard to swallow growing up though... And it never failed, on my birthday there would be a blizzard and I had the flu....

wow neon I get cheated like you do...12 months a year...my best friends birthday is Christmas Day...she says according to her records she hasn't had a birthday yet...all her gifts are under the tree and turkey for dinner...talk about a rip off...

December 26th here, and when I was younger, my parents never jipped me...always had a cake and birthday wrapping paper. Now that I'm older, it's christmas paper. Other relatives though used the christmas paper and only got one gift for both. My daughters B-day is two days after mine and I have to be careful that it is still a birhtday for her the same way my folks did.

My son's birthday is the 22nd, he will be 15 this year, but when he was younger I would have a big party or whatever for him in October, we just called it a pre-Birthday party. Then on his "real" birthday we would just do a cake. It worked out great. Now he thinks he is too old for a party unless he can have beer, and I let him know that was a definite NO!! haha He was just kidding, you do understand he's an angel!! **cough, cough**

31st for me - right after Christmas AND the pressure of NYEve and MUST have the BEST day of your entire year or you are a loser!!
Parents always celebrated it - birthday wrapping paper, party (even if on the 30th instead,..). Relatives often did the "this is for Christmas AND your birthday" trick or gave you two gifts but then said "open it now so I can see if you like it!" Now ex-husband, and current boyfriend both seem "surprised" that it shows up so close to Christmas each and every year and scramble for gifts - and excuses. You get used to it, but it does hurt. My mother still calls, each and every year, at approximately 8pm (when I was born). And my kids make a point to remember, even sneaking out with the host when we were in DC visiting friends one year and getting me a new pair of slippers (I needed!) that were totally "me" - totally shocked me! Now, THAT is love! What more gift do you need?? |
