TOWELS, TOWELS AND MORE TOWELS

JUST A LITTLE QUESTION FOR EVERYONE, BEEN IN THE BUSINESS FOR A LITTLE OVER 2 YEARS SO STILL A NEWBY AT IT, IT SEEMS LIKE WE GO THRU A HECK OF A LOT OF TOWELS AT OUR SALON. ON AN AVERAGE OF 400 TO 500 TOWELS DISAPPEAR IN THE COURSE OF THE YEAR. IS THIS ABOUT NORMAL? WHAT DO YOU DO TO CONTROL THE THEFT OF YOUR TOWELS? DO YOU EVEN SUPPLY TOWELS? ANY SUGGESTIONS WILL BE HELPFUL.
I'VE THOUGHT OF STARTING A STRIP SEARCH OF ALL CUSTOMERS BE FOR THEY LEAVE BUT WIFE SAYS THATS OUT THINKS I'D HAVE TOO MUCH FUN.

We have more get holes in them or stains on them then people taking them. If one of our customers had taken a towel, it's almost certain that they would bring it back the next day. Maybe some of your employees needed towels...LOL.

Agree with Girl7...

Also if the towels aren't there when you go in to clean the room you should have a pretty good idea of who's taking them.

Come right out and ask them to return towel next time it happens say," You may have inadvertantly taken my towel home with you last time you were her because it was missing when we went in to clean the bed after your session. Could you please bring it in next time you tan? Thanks )

Even if they don't admit it, they will know you know, and stop doing it. JMO

We have towel theives. During season we lost probably 3 a day. The nicer the towel, the faster they go. We don't even use fabric softner anymore.

thanks for the replys everyone still not sure what we'll do but it does get a little rediculous when you loose that many, and it seems worse now than in the busy season. If nothing else maybe we'll stensil our name on them and get some free advertizing.

Have never lost any towels, have gained a few, when folks bring their own, they have a tendency to throw them in our hampers
